I've heard of it and I'm tempted to buy the book whenever I'm shopping and see it. Haven't got it yet, though.

Have you ever heard the expression "Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right"?

To me, The Secret is all about positive thinking. Positive thinking has been shown throughout history to make differences in people's lives and circumstances. I loved the book. Granted, I'm a little skeptical of some of it (I have yet to think myself thin.... lol), but I think you can use it as a motivational tool for things like having a good night at work or having a great day.... or, in the case of me and one of my best friends, an absolutely amazing vacation where we were always in the right place at the right time and good things kept happening to us.

Those friends of yours that say it's crap.... well, it's going to be crap to them, because they think that way. Know what I mean? I have a friend that is negative 100% of the time and then acts surprised when bad things keep happening to her... it's a self- fulfilling prophecy. You are what you think.

    ^^ Yes. totally.

I am a big believer in the Secret. Not only do you have to envision something, but you have to believe in it too. I would not be going where I am today if I sat aroundd and thought/felt negatively.

    Being Positive=being powerful

    Negative=no power.

I've imagined myself having the man of my dreams, happy, healthy, well-adjusted children of my dreams, the job of my dreams, the home of my dreams, and I've believed in this dream. Now it's becoming reality.

It's really a beautiful process of creation. Too bad more people don't believe in it.

Bunch of new-age woo-wooey rehashed material IMO. It still might help some people who simply need to find a reason to be happy and positive, or give them a direction and maybe even a certain meaning to their lives.

I've seen it and enjoyed it for the most part. Sure it's a rehashed version describing the laws of attraction but I don't see anything wrong with that nor would I term it "woo wooey" like the guy above. Actually, I think it's kinda difficult to follow; It's definitely easier to wallow in woe-is-me negativity than to constantly project and believe in such grand successes.

I think the Secret is a good "teaser".

If you really want to get into the mindset, you need to look into the Abraham Hicks stuff.

Yes I do. Actually when I first watched the movie I realized I've pretty much lived my life this way without realizing it, and that must be why, when it comes to the things that really matter I have always seemed to have the best luck in the world! Seriously, every single time I've ever needed or really wanted something, I gotten it. Every time I've been in a jam I found a way out - either because an idea came to me or because someone happened along to give me the help needed.

I have ALWAYS said that when people dislike their situations and claim to be unable to do anything about it, that their own negativity is WHY they can't do anything about it. Not because it's impossible. I can't count the number of times I've encountered someone in my travels who said "I wish I could travel / move like that," and when I respond with "well you could if you'd just make the choice to DO it," they come back with "no I can't I have this and that and some other reason." DUH!! It's the "no I can't" that's keeping you from doing it! HELLO!!!

And there are people in the world who always seem to have problems, who always seem to have bad luck, etc. Guess what? Their shit attitudes are the root of it. It's easy to say that maybe they have shit attitudes BECAUSE of all the bad luck. And perhaps that's part of the cycle. But they KEEP having bad luck because they maintain the shit attitudes. If they could ever break the shit attitudes they would be SO much happier in life.

Now I watch the movie every now and then as a refresher, and I have the book also which I read occasionally. I'm teaching myself to apply it on a larger scale and I can already see things working

Call it Karma, call it The Secret, call it the power of positive thinking, mind over matter, whatever. The world returns to you everything you give.

Anyone watch the movie what the bleep do we know?

The type of thinking has existed as long as man kind itself. It's about being enlightened. Einstein used to say that most people only use 10% of their brain. He didn't mean that in a scientific literal sense, but more along the lines of the limited fashion in which most of us exist in.

I'm not a big fan of how they sensationalize it in The Secret, but the fundamentals of what they say are all true.

    Absolutely. Attitude counts big time.

yes, I actually enjoyed what the bleep more but I am a bit disheartened to learn that they took many quotes out of context and manipulated them to fit their ideal.
