Anyway, a SIM card is a little plastic chip about the size of a postage stamp. They're inside all GSM phones, usually behind the battery. Your service is tied to your SIM, not the GSM cellphone. Prepaid SIM cards that you could pop in are available from walmart to ebay, but that will change your telephone number, and I'm not sure if it'd give you a cheaper rate either.
Eenteresting. I dunno, this will be my first time traveling internationally (bout damn TIME! heh) so I was on the phone with her while she checked the going rates for roaming in that particular country, Guam. She did mention something about the 1800/1900 mghz or whatever it is, and found out as she was reading, which one Guam was using (forget.) I guess that has something to do w/the rate? I have no clue but that pretty much SUCKS.

That link you posted for T-Moblie says $1.49...?

    Alas, a lass, Alaska
    Has accepted a stoic task-a,
    To Guam she is flying
and her friends are all crying:
Take us! We fit in a cask-a!

(I started that and had no idea how it was going to end until I wrote it)

I will miss you. Make buckets of money and try to eat something other than SubWay, OK?

    'Laska!

IMO, what you're doing is brave, inspired and adventurous. You seem to already possess the inquisitive spirit that's conducive to wanderlust, and I suspect that Guam will be the first of many exotic locales you'll visit.

I'm looking forward to seeing you at LAX on your layover tomorrow evening...

Same difference! Actually looking at the Merriam Webster definitions, there is a SMALL difference. Not much.

Do you think I reallly need to pack one?
Bring a minimum amount of clothes- there are lots of cheap clothes to be had on Guam (the Guam Premium Outlets.) The airline DOES enforce baggage restrictions because it's a long flight to and from Guam- when I left I had to throw a bunch of things in the trash at the airport to make it under the bag weight limit.

My advice about your "story" on Guam is to lie your ass off- say your boyfriend is in the Air Force and he asked to marry you but you came to visit to see if you could handle life on Guam.....The SCs have bad repuations to the natives for differing reasons. If you have to divulge you work in Tumon Bay, say you're a drinkee hostess (white girls DO get paid to just sit and talk to Japanese tourists.)

& Buy a lockbox to store your cash in between bank deposits, chain it to something if you have to...I wouldn't trust anyone on that island as far as I could throw them.

What I did with my money is buy postal money orders and keep those stashed away. A good balance of money in the bank, postal money orders, and having the club keep some of my money was good.

WOW! I never even thought about dancing in Guam! Hope you makes ton of $$$$$ and have a safe and fun trip. I think it's off everywhere. Not too busy here in Dallas either. Please let us know how it was. I think it would be fun to go somewhere out of the USA and work. Takes balls too.

I've been ducking in and out of SW since late December, but a comment by scarlett_vancouver in another thread jogged my memory about a recent encounter.

I hung out in Los Angeles with Alaska for about 8 hours last Friday (from 7pm - 3:30am) during her ABQ-to-Guam layover at LAX. What a great lady!

We shopped for headphones at Fry's Electronics in Manhattan Beach, toured West L.A. & Beverly Hills, ate sushi, visited The Wild Goose SC near LAX, and finished the evening with a brief swing through "Da 'Hood" and down the infamous Figueroa Ho Stroll (Alaska insisted on seeing "some real streetwalkers" ) before heading back to the airport...

Hopefully, we'll cross paths again in May or August, depending on whether she signs another contract in Guam.

And yes, Alaska is devilishly disarming...

Hahaha Budai forgot to mention how I got straight PISSY with him, something about something about Ambien or something. It was my fault.

If you guys have never seen L.A. streetwalkers before, you are in for a treat.

I'm still here until Wednesday or something. I'll update later.
