Default can u get hair extensions that don't get knotty?

I have clip in extensions and the thing ends up looking like a birds nest at work. I wear it and within half an hour its all clumped together and full of knots.
    It is human hair btw.

So Im considering getting permanent extensions but i dont want to if they are going to be knotty as well.

So does anyone know if they all end up knotty? coz some of the chicks at work said that the permanent ones do the same thing.

I have been looking for extensions in my area and some say they use russia hair rather than asian - apparently thats supposed to be better.

Also, which method is the least damaging to the real hair? Im trying to grow mine long?

My extensions didn't get nkotty and they weren't damaging to my hair at all. I had hair locs.
They can get knotty, any kind can, if you don't care for them properly.

I wear human hair clip in extensions every time i work and they never get knotty. They're straight, indian (remy brand) hair, and I always brush my hair after stage sets (i throw my hair around a lot) so they stay untangled. Maybe get better quality ones?

In my long expensive vast experience with extentions, Yeah - they all knot. Some more so than others. I had to get asian hair extentions removed two weeks after getting them because they matted so much. Indian hair wasn't so bad, but it looked weird and unnatural because its so course and thick and my hair is so fine.

I've had wefts, beads and glue - at the end of the day they all do damage, but if you look after your hair the damage can be quite minimal.

I now use glue in Great Lengths Europeon hair. If you regularly use treatments and masks on your hair matting and knotting are pretty non-existant. I can now get 5 months wear out of my extentions before I need them redone. By that stage to be honest the hair does look a little bit ratty, but the only real reason I get them redone is because the joins are so far down my hair shaft I find it difficult to straighten my hair.

Some girls reuse old extentions and just get them moved up, but I always end up just getting new hair.

I have really fine hair, so I get the hairdresser to cut the extentions in half. It makes them look a lot more natural and puts less stress on my hair. Doesn't have that chunky look some extentions have. Most people (strippers, customers etc) never know I have extensions unless I tell them.

    ^^
have u seen the newish ones that look like a clip type thing but they are the permanent ones? a girl at work has those and they look quite good.

i have never had them before.

so how long are your ones?

i want it fairly long. my own hair is longer than shoulder length anyway but my hairdresser gave it a drastic trim a few months ago and i was furious.

    Are u in melbourne?

Is it possible to grow your own hair while having extensions?

Do you mean the little metal beads that they then clamp onto your hair? If so, yes I've had them. I found them to
    1. Really hurt my head at night with the little metal bits digging into my head
    2. Be too heavy
    3. Hard to disguise
    4. Fall out really quickly because theyre not that secure.

I have either 50cm or 55cm I think. My hair is to my boobs anyways, but I love the thickness extensions ive my hair - and that extre inch or two my hair refuses to grow.

My hair does grow with the extensions - but it does thin it out a bit. Plus its easy to forget that underneath all that extra hair, your hair is still there. All that styling does put extra pressure on your hair.

The one thing I don't like about Great Lengths is that you can't get straight hair. It's all wavy, so I spend so much time straightening my hair, even though my natural hair is dead straight.

Not in Melbourne, in Brisbane sorry.

Holy shit, 250? That is way overpriced for some beauty supply store (even human) hair.
That hair sucks, trust me. You need to get virgin remy hair. Indian, European, whatever, it's expensive, but they last for a long time if you take good care of them.

Some people also suggest doing a bleach bath on your extensions when they get beyond ratty but they come out like brand new. (PS: You do this when the pieces are NOT in your hair!)

Instructions? The only ones I can find are about lightening the hair.

I suggest brushing after every stage set also. If I don't mine are always ratty when I take them out at night. I actually use a wide tooth comb b/c I curl mine and I don't want them to get frizzy.

Try that link, and look through that thread. I have never tried it but I have some ratty clips in that I might be able to use it on in the next couple of days and report back here.

Some reason their search wasn't working for me. It's in a lace front wig forum, but I've seen the bleach bath in their hair extensions forum as well.
