Default Advise: Best Powder, loose or pressed

I'm too lazy to search for other threads.

I use MaryKay foundation, and would like a nice airy, matte finish. I don't like their loose powder. Mine sucks, and would like something that is:

    1. Loose prefer, but not required
    2. Transportable around in my purse without making a mess
    3. Very light and good for smoothing out shiny-ness
    4. Not too expensive

I've used Chanel's powder, and that was good, but expensive. And I've tried the Neutrogena mineral powder and couldn't get it to work. Plus the Physician's Formula I think.

Oh, and if possible, I'd like a powder without a bunch of smells and perfumes. My skin is sensitive and gets splotchy.

Any advice oh ye makeup gurus? Thanks!

I've been using Cover Girl Fresh Look pressed powder ever since it came out. My skin looks pretty shit without any makeup. I don't feel the need for foundation with it, but I like the natural look. Also, I apply it like loose powder. Hey, it's only $5 and I've turned a few other girls onto it. No smell either. I hate that CG noxema smell.

I've been using MAC's Loose Blot forever and I think it's great and affordable too. Not very transportable tho, but Bare Minerals makes a case you can put loose powder in to make it portable. You can buy it on Sephora's site. I want to try Make Up For Ever's loose powder next, you should look into that. I've heard really good things about it on Specktra and plan to purchase it next.

imo, MAC blot powder is the best. They make it in loose but I prefer the pressed. I forgo the powder puff and apply with a big fluffy brush.

I like the Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil. It's loose, translucent, sets my makeup marvelously, and thus far I've had no problems with it irritating my skin. My skin gets shiney, and I live in humid south Florida; it still works great for me.

Another vote for the MAC Blot powder... I apply the loose powder at home and carry the pressed in my purse.

I HATE pressed powder. It gives my skint his weird cakey look, even if I use just a little.

I liked Bare Minerals Mineral Veil, but it was bit shiny/irridescent on me, so I only used it as a highlighter mainly.

Honestly, the best I've found is CoverGirl's loose powder. It's cheap, lasts forever, gives great coverage/shine prevention, and has no chemically smell.

I wear pressed powders by TooFaced and MAC. Maybe you could keep the loose powder at home and a compact in your purse for touch ups. I don't think it's a good idea to carry around loose powders.

Yea Shiseido make a lovely loose powder but their shades are a bit off on many skin tones imo... the powder tends to have white/pink tones.

I like the Shiseido idea. My skin is yellow undertones too..I think. Or maybe its green. How do I tell again? Hopefully someone at the counter can help me. I always fuck up the color on my own.

Plus, I would like the powder to be really sheer if possible, as I do wear a light foundation now.

The MAC blot power is extremely sheer, it does not cover.
It is used to reduce shine, etc.

I've always hated pressed powder until my last visit to Clinique when the rep talked me into trying this new pressed powder they have. LOVE it! It's called Stay-Matte Sheer pressed powder. Here's the link: http://www.clinique.com/templates/pr...UCT_ID=PROD540

No cakiness at all and it is better than any loose powder I've tried.
