    Default Natural Cold/Flu?Sickness Remedies

I'm sick ! I feel like ass. Sore throat, rattling painful cough, body aches

I am hesitant to go to the doctor because 1) it's a $65 office visit and 2) they always give me antibiotics that are super expensive and give me a yeast infection.

So what have you tried that is natural that has worked for you ? I'm thinking of getting some colloidal silver and of course echinacea. Help please ??

    Thank you

Echinacea is wonderful. This might sound stupid, but I get exactly the same symptoms (even the body aches) when I work in smoky clubs, and the best thing for it is lemon-ginger-echinacea juice from Trader Joe's. A glass of that in the morning after a night in a smoky club, and of course obscene quantities of water all the time, and the pain and coughing don't last long at all.

    Cayenne!!!!

shoot down a quarter of a teaspoon in juice and take occasionally.

increases circulation and gets out the bugs. you'll notice it will help kick out the mucous.

you can also sweat it out by doing detox baths with a cup of epsom salt, a cup of baking soda (get the aluminum free type) and whatever else. some people add cayenne, some ginger, some apple cider vinegar.

then you can sit in it for 30-40 minutes and make it as hot as possible, and then either a) rinse with cold water to stop the detoxing, or b) wrap up in warm clothes and go to bed for a few hours to continue sweating it out-- just shower later on so that the toxic sweat doesn't get reabsorbed.

I like vit. C & garlic caps. Also, I love Airborn. It's a fizzing flavored tab, you drop in water, w/ lots of vitamins.

    Immunity Broth

This dish provides the healing benefits of hot soup, root vegetables, and the most nutritious green vegetables available to help stimulate detoxification of the liver and blood. You can save any left over broth for the next morning. It is actually a wonderful thing to have immediately upon awakening form sleep.

2 cups of vegetable or chicken broth
    4 chopped shallots
    2 chopped carrots
    2 cloves of garlic, chopped
3-4 ounces of organic cooking greens (a mixture of chard, collard greens, mustard greens, etc.)

Bring the pot of broth to a rolling boil. Add the chopped carrots, garlic, and shallots and allow to simmer on low heat for ten minutes. Add the cooking greens, shut off the heat, and stir for 2 minutes. Season additionally to taste.

For sore throat try eating spoons of honey and drinking warm green tea.

I hear ya on the sickness. I had a sinus infection with double ear infection 2 weeks ago and went on Z-pak. That went away and now I'm terribly sick again. Burning in the chest, dizziness, faintness and total lack of energy. I was going to go into work today but started crying while I was driving because I was in so much discomfort and "outofitness"
I'm not sure what's wrong...feels like either the flu or bronchitis. I'm gonna wait out the weekend and rest to see if that's all I need.
To the OP, if you are on antibiotics start taking acidophillus immediately. The spelling is wrong but just go to any local store and look for something similar. This takes care of keeping healthy bacteria around so you don't get yeast infections. They work like a charm for me. Some people say eat yogurt, but I hate yogurt..so this is f'ing fantastic!!!
