    Default Extensions in Portland

Regarding the "Great Color, Horrible Cut" thread in Picture Post: I need extensions. Badly. I don't know anything about extensions, but I think I want the sew-in kind. Where should I go, how much should I expect to spend, and how often will I have to have them redone? Will I have to dye my hair again, or will they dye the extensions to match? I want waist-length extensions with big, bouncy curls, if that helps.

I don't know anything about that kind...the sew in kind is what I meant by that. I have SO.CAP and LOVE LOVE LOVE them. They've lasted 4 months now, and I think I can get 1 more out of them. Everyone loves them, and nobody knows they're extensions unless either you tell them, or they saw you the week before with short hair. Let me know what route you go. I've thought about the Dream Catcher hair for the next round, but have a problem supporting a Hilton product. That and I can't find ANY reviews on them!

What exactly is this? Do you have any information? I don't know what kind you're talking about.

I have had great lengths, microbraids, tru locs, weaves.... all of them mess with your hair. You have to be ultra super spectacularly meticulous with maintaing/brushing them and they will still damage your hair. I don't mean to be a debbie downer, i just really want to warn you because everyone that I knows who has them done ends up with shorter hair and frustrated. Just my opinion and from experience....

I had extensions about 4 years ago. They were the kind that are individual strands, with tiny clamps holding them in. I LOVED the length and volume, but maintenance was insane. I'm not the kind of girl who enjoys spending hours in the salon every couple of months. And as Kalligirl said, it takes more time to brush and even wash your hair because you need to be careful with them. But I had them for about 6 months and my hair was not damaged, and when I got them, my real hair was to the top of my bra strap, and the extensions made it almost to my waist.

i agree with kalli- bit for work, I sugguest clip ins.

you can get real human hair and the clips to sew them yourself at any sort of ghetto hair store for cheap. like definatly under 50$ for the longest ones. That way you only wear them for work, and they aren't pulling your hair overnight and all the time.

Cool. I'm gonna get clip extensions or a 3/4 wig and get the Hair Butcher dye them to match what little remains of my hair. It's the least she can do.

SO.CAP is like Great Lengths. They are keratin bonded and come in 2 different lengths. Like everyone says you have to take EXTREMELY good care not to ruin your own hair. I went in a month ago to get mine checked in on and she said I had taken the best care of them out of any of her customers. I braid them at night (never wet at night) brush with only the special brush no extra hair product. Also when I wash, I only use so.cap product and shampoo only my scalp and condition only from the shoulder down. My hair has stayed super healthy this way! Also, I'm an aggressive pole dancer so my hair gets tossled a LOT! Best of luck
