Default How to deal with chatty customers

Last night I got a bunch of chatty customers....not the kind that pay to talk to you, but the ones that expect you to sit there for free and chat. Heres how it all went down: I approach within the first few seconds of a song,
Me: "Hi I'm madilyn. Are you having fun tonight? I bet you'd be having a lot more fun if I danced for you."
    Custy: "Sure, next song."
Me: "Okay, I'll come back and play with you in a couple minutes."
Custy: "why dont you sit right here.."
Then they proceed to hold a convo (that they dont feel they need to pay for)throughout the entire song.

At my club our table dances are only $5 and most customers only buy1-5 dances on the floor. So it's not really worth the chatting to make 5 bucks when I could be dancing for someone else.

Is there anyway I can close the sale immediately so I'm not wasting my time with a nonpaying custy?

    Suggestions please!!

well if its the start of the song, what do you want to do? start after the song is started? at my club we arent allowed to do that unless its like, a few seconds in.

I don't know what I would do, but it sucks that your table dances are so cheap!

Personally, I'd just wait through the song and make small talk and as soon as the next song started, I'd start dancing. A song is only three minutes roughly anyway so probably by the time you got someone who wanted a dance, it would have taken the length of the song. I've also noticed that when I stop and talk to a customer for a few minutes, they are more likely to buy more dances or give me a bigger tip. But, I dunno, I've never danced in AZ and never been in a club where I expect to dance just about every song that is played.

I just interrupt the guy as politely as possible. Either he is in control or you are in control. "I love talking to you! You know what would make this better? How about I dance for you next song!"

The worst thing that could happen is that he says no, and it cuts down on the time that could have been wasted. Your objectives are to either 1) make money or 2) cut your losses. If you start seeing every conversation as objectively as option A or option B, you'll be on your way to a raise in your daily/nightly average.

I did this once with a guy that wouldn't shut up. I started blinking on eye, put my finger up to it and said "I'm sorry, I think I've got something in my eye, let me go get it out". Went to the back for a quick second than right back on the floor to someone new.

^ I'm using that! I always get stuck with the chatty ones, this is a great way to excuse oneself.

IMO, if the dances are only 5 dollars then I would hop on and startdancing as soon as possible. If it happens to be the middle of a song then I would just dance through the next song for a minute to make it up. But for such a cheap dance price, I wouldn't waste a second.

    For this senario
Me: "Hi I'm madilyn. Are you having fun tonight? I bet you'd be having a lot more fun if I danced for you."
    Custy: "Sure, next song."
Me: "Okay, I'll come back and play with you in a couple minutes."
Custy: "why dont you sit right here.."
I would say I'm sorry I would love to sit and chat with you for a few minutes if you would like to tip me for that time, otherwise, i wanna start gettin nekkid for you right now!
You could politely explain that because the dance prices are only $5 yo uare unable to sit and chat for free, the $5 covers the dance only, anything beyond that also needs to be compensated for.

How about when the custy says, "sure, I'll take a dance, when the next song starts" I would immediately say "Right on!....*look at him as if waiting for something for a few seconds* "Ok, so its $5 per song, how many songs would you like?" "Two? Ok that'll be $10 please" just use that time until the next song starts to get paid, since guys are usually not too organized, its good to get this out of the way anyways, also helps avoid an end of the dance case of "oh shit, I thought I had some some more cash on me...." situation, which means you will have to escort him to the cash machine, wait while he fumbles with his wallet and card, maybe have to make change for him, all for $5? get that $ girl!
