    ooh which kind is this?
These days I like to count my money. I like to wash it delicately and iron it. Sometimes I dry it with some bounty to make it all nice and cuddly. I love my money... did I say that out loud?

It looks like stainless steel or chrome, fastened to a rafter in the attic or whatever, a good way to mount a pole.

This reminds me I need to put mine back up, I keep having to take it down as I know the landlord will freak, if and when he actually shows up as he keeps threatening to do. Fuck it, as long as I have a day's notice it's not so hard to take down.

    But what an asshole--threadjacking again...

    Congrats on the new pole!

It's from lil. minx. It's the stainless steel rotator. I bought a blemished one from californiapoles.com It was $290+$30 or $40 shipping.

I was completely happy with the service from them and the pole. It is both a rotating and static pole. It's set up in my living room and I always take it down and put it in the closet when I'm not using it ( take down requires a little muscle to lift it up , but it can really be down in just a couple minutes ).

Now .... someone else make a comment or say something nice. I'm having a shitty day . That's a decent photo of my bod. I feel guilty for only posting the most flattering one.

Hey I didn't post the lousy pictures of me in my thread, either, lol--your body appears to be flawless in that one.

So what's holding the pole attached at the top of the ceiling?? It looks like it's going right up into the attic. Is it all tension? That would scare me...

It's attached with a plant hook ( hook is drilled through a joist in the ceiling ). The hook is just a disguise . The base of the hook fits a hollow part of the pole. It's the hook base + strong tension that keeps it stable. I don't think I'll ever try hanging upside down on it or anything , but it's very stable for spins.

It was funny because I posted an ad on craigslist about installing a plant hook and then sent the full details over later to the handman.

Is that the way the Lil' Minx people recommend installing it, with a plant hook (base)? Not doubting you, here, I'm just curious. If you came up with the idea, it's a pretty clever one. I'll bet that handyman wishes he got more jobs like that, lol.

There are certain upside down moves that would probably work fine with that set up--so long as the force is being projected downward it would work. What gets dangerous is the lateral momentum. Knowing me, I'd want to try it, but that might be dumb. Of course I didn't immediately start leaping around on the one I have, either, and I shook the hell out of it to see what it could take before I went upside down at all.

It is installed the exact way lilmynx instructed. They send the hook with the pole. http://www.lilmynx.com

I have been on it about 3 times so far . No problems yet ! I know what you mean though about testing it to be sure before getting more aggressive with tricks. Without health insurance ( and practicing with a spotter ) , I haven't gone upside down yet. I'm a wuss like that.

They recommend a dancer of under 200 pounds ( usually not a problem for female dancers ), but I've also heard from a good pole instructor that she wouldn't feel safe putting someone more than 180 on it.

We have a Lil Mynx non-rotating pole. The base of the plant hook is deep enough, and fits closely enough inside the end of the pole, that it provides lateral support. And the screw that holds the plant hook goes about three inches into a ceiling joist. That, combined with the compression spring, makes it pretty sturdy..

We got the pole so my GF and her retired poledancer friend could play on it. Our friend, who probably weighs 110 pounds, goes upside down on it regularly with no problems. My GF doesn't, because she doesn't have the upper arm strength yet. And I need to lose about 20 pounds (or maybe 40, based on carmen_b's post) before I can go on it.

    I have the same one.
Love it, have had no problems
It's important to tighten it each time though
Only clean it with a clean cloth and alcohol...nothing else
I'm sure you've heard it all.
I've had mine for a year, and it gets lots of use.
Now you can take online courses with Alena (totally worth it)

As far as weight (sorry missed that one)
I started at 180 (I'm so embarrased to admit) and was swinging and twirling and killing the pole
I'm at around 150 now and invert and do a lot of tricks. As far as stability is concerned it is the lateral movements that can cause instability more than any climbing or going upside down.

How does everyone like the bright green grandma underwear under my nightie ? It almost looks decent in the pic, but they definitely don't go together. Lol.
