    Sad pregnancy vs. job

Hello girls, I have a question for the group. I have worked for a large gentlemens club for about a year now and have not noticed any pregnant dancers. This little gal that I talk to sometimes told me last night she is pregnant and plans to work until someone (owners or mgmt) tells her she has to go. I feel bad for her, she is a good mom and a hard worker. I am wondering if any of you have any feedback or have seen this situation in your workplace. I would like to pass on some positive advice to her ~if there is any. thanks

To me, working while pregnant doesn't sound like the safest or smartest move. Being an a rowdy environment with people smoking and drinking (not to mention precarious high heels) isn't the best bet for mom's or baby's well being.

There are so many pregnant between my two clubs right now. There's also been a couple of miscarriages that I know of..... girls who are druggies, who continued to do drugs even after they found out. There was one girl who worked all the way until it was super obvious she was pregnant. She didn't drink or drugs (that I know of) Management didn't even say anything to her, but her doctor recommended to not be walking around in heels and doing pole tricks anymore.
This girl that you are dealing with sounds like she's not into drugs or alcohol (I hope not) As far as positive advice for her there's not much more you could really say than to explore other options. It's my opinion that a SC isn't a good enviroment to be in with a bun in the oven (especially if threre is smoking inside) but opinions will differ.

I've known many girls to work while pregnant, right up to about he 6 month mark. I think its better if she tells management, (assuming they are reasonably sympathetic,) as she really shouldn't be going on stage or doing pole tricks. Plus they might be a bit more lenient with her going home early or coming in late due to sickness or doctors appointments.

There's a pregnant girl at my club (oh wait, no there's not, she's a psycho and she left ). Obviously don't drink or smoke, however I don't think the high heels and simpler pole tricks are dangerous until you're so pregnant that you shouldn't be stripping anymore anyway. The secondhand smoke, though.... that's the only reason I wouldn't work while pregnant.

How about someone who has actually worked pregnant and sought the advice of a doctor add to this thread?

    I'll go first.

I worked in an upscale gown club until I was 19 weeks pregnant. My doctor knew where I worked, knew my gym schedule and encouraged me to keep up all of my regular activities as long as I was comfortable. I stopped any drinking (I only drank at work and only in VIP) as soon as I found out and I don't smoke. If a custy took me to VIP, I told them I was only allowed to have mimosas (champange and OJ) and the hostess would bring me OJ with sprite. I continued working my full shifts, including stage and dances, up until the moment I was told by management it was time for me to go on leave. Physically, I felt fine--I still wanted to work and save for another month!!

Each woman and each pregnancy is different. Tell your friend to consult her doctor first before making any decisions about work. Also let her know to listen to her body--if something feels funny or not "right" she should not do it. Pole tricks are not recommended. Let her know to save as much money as she can before she goes on leave...she's gonna need it!!

When I found out I was pregnant I quite dancing that day. My DR did tell me to cut back on my regular workouts because they were really long and I did do a lot of pole dancing. I was also scared I would fall over in my heels since I did all the time anyways and I did not want to hurt the baby. I was also one of the people that started to show right away so I am glad I quite.

We have 2 pregnant girls at my club right now, one is @7 months and the other is @4 months. The 7 month girl is now working as a bartender because she still wanted to work but was uncomfortable getting on stage because of her baby "bump". The 4 month girl just decided to quit last weekend and then come back after the birth.

I personally would not be able to work in the bar atmosphere if I was pregnant, the smoke bothers me enough in normal health conditions!

Perhaps your friend could sit down and talk to the management (if they're open to it) about working as a dancer until she starts to really show and then switching to waitressing or bartending at the club?

As shasta said earlier, probably the best advice is to tell her to save $$ while she is still dancing and working a regular shift at the club. Hope things work out well for her!

At a club I used to work at there was a girl that worked there until she started having contractions and left work to go have the baby. I don't know if management ever said something to her...maybe they felt sorry for her. She always wore a black top that covered her belly and sat down most of the time so most guys didn't even know until they actually danced with her. I remember asking her one time when she was 7 or 8 months when the baby was due and she said...baby? what baby? i'm not pregnant...

I agree with what Glamazon said. Tell this girl to talk to her doctor, as he will have the best advice for her. My doctor encouraged me to continue doing things as I normally would and if anything hurt to slow down or stop.

There is nothing wrong with dancing while pregnant, as dancing is still a form of exercise and exercise IS encouraged during pregnancy. Some women aren't comfortable dancing while pregnant and that is fine. I personally danced until I was 20 weeks....and currently have a very happy and healthy 2 year old.

i worked with a girl that danced into the 7 month. she started dancing in sneakers with a schoolgirl outfit or boots with a construction/cop outfit and i think she pulled it off pretty well, she also used to wear her skirts higher on her waist and suck in her stomach onstage
These days I like to count my money. I like to wash it delicately and iron it. Sometimes I dry it with some bounty to make it all nice and cuddly. I love my money... did I say that out loud?
