My feeling is, say what you have to say and say it proud--but when it's over, it's truly over, no? Why not just delete? To me it doesn't make me curious, it just makes me pretty sure to watch out for yr passive agressive lil drama lovin' self in the future.

    1. Can't delete a thread you made.

    2. Can't delete a post after a few days I think.

    I think.

Or for drama purposes, or maybe a little bit of both.

Hmmm, maybe it's #2 I've been seeing more of, but I've def seen ppl's original thoughts and then the "....nevermind...." not 5 mins later. Guess they want to pretend like lots of time had passed and they couldn't delete, and no one would notice...

    Correct.

I believe that in most cases it is numbers 1 and 2 as opposed to saying "Never mind" for dramatic effect especially when you see that the post was edited.

It took me a little over a year to figure out how to delete posts...

If you start the thread, you can't delete it. Found that out the other day.

Yea you gotta wait for the mod of that section to delete it when its a thread you've made.

    As for the posts..
drama factor or don't know how to delete posts entirely is my guess.

What agitates me is when a mod comes ito a thread and says no more posting after this!
and then you get 5 people afetr that that post, but then edit it to say oh...sorry, I didn't see yrou message.
If you can edit yrou post, you can delete it. Thats just a case of trying to getin the last word without getting in trouble for it. if I were a mod I'd point anyway for that. Just becase if you did see he mod post after you rposted, if you can edit your post, you can delete it.

But for thread starters, yeah, you cant delete those.

I did that once so it would not seem like the person replying to me was talking to themselves. I thought they were way off base but nevertheless didn't want to make their post look like it was in a vacuum. (They hadn't quoted)

Also I agree that people might not realize how to delete.

I'm guilty of doing this recently. I've done it once or twice maybe a long time ago and was able to find the delete button but this past time it seemed like the button wasn't available. I guess I waited too long to delete it?

Anyways, it was because I started a thread and in the process of writing it out I realized I'd answered my own question and the thread was going to be pretty silly sounding so I deleted the message and put "nevermind" before anyone had ever read it. Wasn't for dramatic effect, I just solved the problem myself through writing about it.

Then, I almost started another thread about how therapeutic writing can be and how I think it would help many of us sort out our issues. Seeing things written down usually places them in a different perspective for me for some reason. But, I figured I'd had enough thread starting for the evening so I resisted.

Haha...I did this once. Another member very sanctimoinously corrected my typo with an obviously incorrect spelling of her own. I replied with something kind of cute but later realized it would be taken as snarkier than intended. In the end I left my post saying "nevermind...too easy" hoping anyone with a litle savvy would notice and get a little laugh as I had and the rest would not be offended.
