Default My Biblio Tattoo... The wait is over!

soo... I've posted about this for almost a year now, and today the 1st of 4 sessions was completed! This was done by Tom Berg (Prison Break/Red Dragon and other awesomeness), and will have books stacked haphazardly down my spine in 2 weeks. The whole piece will be done by March 31st. I'll post each session up for a little bit, take them down, and refresh the thread every 2 weeks with progress. Enjoy!!!

uhh, for some reason it won't let me post both pics in the same post. weird. whatever... (oh, keep in mind i'd JUST taken off the bandages, so some marker/residue is still on there.) It's exactly what I wanted... every little detail, down to the iron intricacies of the ladder, the bloomers, the petticoats/ribbon... I'm so very satisfied, and I adore the storybook quality!

    OMG I LOVE IT!

I actually think about this tattoo often and was telling someone about it the other day. I think it's brilliant and I'm so excited you're finally doing it. It looks even better than I'd pictured it!

*beaming* Thank you!!! I'm so ridiculously satisfied... of course, the other 3 sessions are all spine-work, and I've seen the pics from which the books are going to be drawn/seen a preliminary sketch on my back- it looks SO COOL!- but anytime the needle so much as TOuChed my spine there was some CERious 'reverb' that kinda shudders your whole peripery... accckkk.... oh well, it's the result that's worth it!

The results ARE worth it indeed. How long was this session? It looks awesome! For some reason the girl some what resembles alice from alice in wonderland.

Now I'm curious why Alice? All the thought and effort you've put into this tattoo and more pain to come - what does this tat mean to you?

Thats great work. In that amount of time that would be hard to finish so nicely like that.

oh, it's not alice per se, like i said- she was only a part of the inspiration for the girl atop the ladder... my little sister and myself, as well as Amy from Little Women (hence the bloomers!) all fueled my imagination... the tattoo represents the ongoing quest for knowledge, the freedom/rebellion/unknown that lies within understanding (hence, the pROvErbial 'alice in wonderland') as well as paying a tribute to feminism and girls' education...

books/reading made up a huge part of my childhood and that of my little sister's... (the girl was also meant to look like her ) and I wanted to make that memory immortal...

That's really cool and unique. I can't believe how intricate the detail is too. I never realised tattoos could be so detailed. It looks really good.

^^^ thank you so much! that means a lot to me... i've been on a year waiting list for this artist!! yeah, really talented artists have levels of detail that are pretty amazing...they can also tailor the tattoo to fit specific 'looks' and to appear a certain way.

Very beautiful indeed. I'm glad reading was such a huge part of your childhood. It was for me as well. Books, in my opinion, are so amazing. I'm jealous I didn't think of this. But I'm excited to see the finished product on you. Amazing!

^thank you! i can't wait, either! I'm so glad I scheduled the 4 sessions together, rather than do the 'wait til I have money again' thing and stay in a state of 'incomplete.'

no, i don't... tom (the artist) has the sketches of girl/ladder and is working on the books- it's only been done on my back in marker for preliminary spacing/placement ideas. (it looked soooo cool, though!) it also ended up really elongating my back... I'll take unexpected tattoo perks!

YAY! Finally!!! I remember you describing this at our little sw meetup and I was really excited to see how it came out. Its one of the most original and thoughtful ideas I've heard in a long time. It looks amazing and can't wait to see the rest of it. I'd like to get a tat someday but I'm waiting until I get an idea as brilliant as yours that I feel is worthy to be on my skin forever.
