I've found that when I'm out and want food I first bring a fruit with me or granola bar then I make sure I don't bring any cash - not even a debit or cc.

Other than that I don't know. I have that same problem sometimes. I don't know how long this has been going on but have you ever looked into binge eating disorder?

hmm i will try the green tea sups...do they have energy in them i wonder so they work like a diet pill and curb your appetite?

tiger-you see it's not this way all the time, it's just off and on for a few months w/ a few months in between. i have struggled w/ bulimia in the past but these days i dont purge, i just binge and then feel so fat and disgusted with myself it's so bad if i go w/o cash or moeny (i've tried that) i end up in a pissy mood b/c i cant have whatever it is i'm "craving"

I do the same thing. I have zero self control, if there is food in the house I eat EVERYTHING. The only thing that works for me is keeping the pantry empty. I go to the store once or twice per day and carefully count out the calories of what I buy. This only works if you live alone, and conveniently close to a grocery store. Is that the case for you?

Just changing what you eat can help. If you have a sweet tooth..Quaker flavored rice cakes are REALLY good(just not the cinnamon struesal one..blech)

baby carrots with mustard if you want something crunchy...that sort of thing. It will take a little bit for your cravings to change..but you WILL start craving the healthier options

I do this too. I eat when I'm bored, and I eat until I'm full. I try not to have a lot of food in my house because if it's there, I'll eat it. I take Hoodia, I think it is a pretty good appetite suppresant.

I have this problem too. I balance it by eating really healthfully for as long as I can stand it, and avoiding having any kind of junk food in the house. I think it's OK to have dessert and indulge in general as long as you work out enough to counter it.

I usually have an apple or banana around and drink a lot of water. Stay full with good things, not junk.

I have a really good friend who had the same problem...always hungry and always craving something even shortly after she had eaten. She cut out all dairy products and her cravings went away. She also increased the amount of fresh fruit she was eating. Over 6 months or so she lost 50 pounds, and she still looks and feels great 2 years later.

    My two cents.

Here's things I've done to cut back on eating so much. It's definitely a work in progress - I go out and binge from time to time, and if I do, I just make sure that the next day I go back to eating lightly and appropriately and try not to beat myself up for making a mistake.

Drink lots and lots of water. It fills my stomach up so I'm less likely to think "I need food."

More protein - I'm choosing trail mix, or nuts, or a slice of cheese, instead of candy or chocolate for snacks.

Eat slower. If I'm eating out, I'll only try to eat half my plate and save the rest for another meal. Most restaurant meals are definitely more than two servings! After I eat half, I'll get up and move around for a bit, and that will give me time for the "I am full" feeling to catch up to me. When I sit down again, I'm often not hungry enough to finish.

Keeping track of everything I eat helps me see that I don't need more. I use a website to keep track of all my calories and exercise for the day, and try to calculate and enter my calories as soon as I can. I know how many calories I need to eat to lose weight and if I get close, I stop eating. Even if it's 1:00p - I don't need any more food. It's like a clock for eating - time to stop!

Lastly, I try to plan my meals in advance as much as possible. Knowing I have it all laid out for me, and knowing that it's enough to get me through the day, helps prevent me from snacking or over-eating at any one meal.

Good luck! And don't try to make huge changes, just work on one or two things at a time until they're habits.

Ditto the lots of water. It's better for your health and complexion, you'll feel better and more awake, you won't be hungry as much, and you'll feel full after eating less.

Also, sugarless gum. When you get the urge to snack, pop a piece of sugarless gum and you get the satisfaction of chewing without the calories and bloat.

Eat more slowly. Your brain doesn't register that you feel full until a few minutes after you actually are full. If you're snarfing it down like an underfed dog, you'll have eaten way too much by the time your brain tells you that you've had enough.

Brush your teeth after every meal, or use mouthwash. You won't want to eat when you have that clean taste, and nothing tastes good after mouthwash or toothpaste.

Take a break after half of what you usually eat. After 20 minutes finish the food if you are still hungry. I've been doing this lately and it's working pretty well. For example I've realized that having half a sandwich is equally satisfying as having a whole, and knowing you can have the other half later is kinda comforting for when you are really craving it again.

If you feel you are going to do this try to get out of the house and do some exercise. Go for a walk or something. Then when you come back drink water. This will make you feel full.

Hey uh, Crystal Light now makes a version with fiber in it.
It's great 'cause you get all the water goodness PLUS fiber!
They'll both help you feel full longer.

I don't get it. Do dairy products increase appetite somehow?

do nothing but raw fruit and raw veggies for a couple days, and eat as much as you want, and then go to cooked veggies and fruit. you'd be surprised by how full you can get. also by actually cooking stuff from scratch keeps you from just popping something in the microwave-- and you eat better.

I drink that with dinner, it's better than soda I guess. Just don't drink it before work if you know what I mean.

oh, and cayenne is an appetite suppressant-- so if you add it to a small drink or put it on food it helps AND boosts your metabolism for 30 minutes or so.

The Weigh Down Diet. Even if your not religous it teaches intuitive eating ( stopping eating when full) Also, it's not a diet. It's about eating when youre hungry stopping when your full. When you stop making certain foods mad or forbidden and can eat them safely the urge to over eat goes away. trust me im a recovered ana/mia combo.

i totally second the water thing. both me and my SO have been like this at some point cause we just didnt drink enough water/fluids in general. and your brain can confuse thirst with hunger. so you eat and eat and feel full, then less than 15 mins later feel hungry again! everytime you feel hungry or the need to snack, grab a glass of water/coffee/red bull (water is best though) give it 5/10 mins and see if u feel hungry. Im a great believer in drinking lots of water!!!

Every week I buy a new fruit. This week it's sugar plums. I buy enough for a week and put it on my coffee table. Each time I feel hungry I can have some. They're so convenient right there and accessable. And healthy. Last week was really good... it was white peaches.
