I work in Portland, at 3 clubs. One of them just started the most RIDICULOUS practice of keeping two stages open at all times on night shifts. Some nights, there are 4 girls working (6 on weekends). So when there are four girls, that means 3 songs on, three songs off. It used to be that the DJ watched how many people were in the club, and if there were 20 people or more total (relatively small club) he was required to open a second stage. Now, the owners have told him both must be open, every night shift. Last night was the first night I worked under this new policy and it was HORRIBLE. On a Tuesday, I am lucky if I make 250 at that club. I have to tip out a DJ (15), security (10) a bartender (5), a waitress (3) and the kitchen guy (3) and pay a stage fee (10). So there goes 46 of my 250 and I am down to 204, take-home cash. With the new policy, I have 3 f*ing songs to run back to the DR, freshen up or change, then go hustle. It is IMPOSSIBLE to sell strings of dances in 3 songs. I had to leave a customer who wanted 5 dances after only 2 dances because I had to go onstage. I made 5 dollars that stage set. LAME. With 4 girls doing three-song sets (roughly 10 min each) that means I am onstage for 30 minutes of every hour. I don't think I'm gonna stay. Sorry had to rant.
BTW: sorry if my thread title is misleading. I just wanted to point out that I am in portland, not insinuate that there are new city-wide rules or something.
