I usually wear acuvue Advance contacts. My eye Doc let me try a pair of the newer, hipper Oasys variety.
I hate 'em. They make my eyes hurt, like they are being sliced or something.
How can the newer version feel worse? Has anyone experienced this?

Different brands/types of contacts can just feel different. For example, I've been using Proclear Compatibles for years because my eyes are really dry. At my last eye exam, my doc gave me acuvue Advance contacts to try. I hated them. They felt really flimsy and tore easily. And they didn't help my dry eyes anymore than my old lenses, which I went back to. And my doc told me, "no one uses proclears anymore." Guess what? I do. Just go with what's comfortable.

You might be allergic to an ingredient in the new "improved" lenses? Especially if they feel scratchy.
When I use the more expensive solution it seems to make a difference. I think it's called OptiFree?

Hmm. Maybe it's just because they are new and you aren't used to them? I don't know. It just dawned on me that I've been using the same kind of contacts for 8-9 years now and I still love them- focus dailies.
i wonder if there's anything newer/better now?
^ focus night and day are really cool. They take some getting used to because at first they felt really dry, but now I'm used to them and they're awesome--- I put them in on the first of every month, sleep with them and everything and it's almost like I can pretend i have perfect vision.
I've tried different ones and they don't agree with me either. I tend to have dry eyes though. I'd stick to what worked for me.
