    Default simple carbs?

    So, I've had stomach distress lately, and have been unable to really digest food. And my diet is pretty healthy. For breakfast I was drinking kefir (probiotics), lunch was brown rice with veggies and sometimes chicken, and dinner was salad with chicken or salmon, and a couple pieces of fruit as snacks. Well, today I was so sick of my tummy hurting. So I just ate some white bread, graham crackers, and goldfish crackers. I KNOW it's not healthy, but my stomach doesn't hurt and I don't have gas. Why? Is it the fact that this stuff is simple carbs and easy to digest? I'm not bloated like I have been or anything...but I'm eating toddler food!

    Complex carbs definitely require more effort to digest. You can't live on them because they're not much good nutritionally - they're basically just sugar - but you can definitely include them in your diet if you can't handle the fibery stuff. K can't do whole wheat pasta because it tears up his stomach. I love whole wheat pasta but I'll admit it does make me a bit puffy and gassy.

    ^^But I didn't just change my diet. I was eating healthy for a while now. Do you think that since I had an infection in my gi tract, that maybe my stomach just needs a break? Oh, and even stuff like the fruit was making me ill.

    It's possible. I'm not sure.

    Fruit has a lot of fiber and gas in it. I love it, but it does make me fart. So whatever was wrong with your GI tract could've been affected by the fruit as much as anything else.

    Think of the BRAT diet - bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast, with the rice and toast being white. That's what they've traditionally fed to kids with GI trouble. Your simple-carb break is very similar.

    this is confusing to me. iv always found whn i eat white pasta/bread etc i bloat and my tummy goes rock hard and painful. and recently iv been eating wholeweat pasta instead (only early afternoon no oater) and it gives me energy and no bloat/pain?!?!
