Default Argh. Does anyone else literally lose money?

I'm a sloppy person in a lot of ways. I've had my wallet stolen twice in my travels because I'm careless. I really need to smarten up, though. I know I made $570 tonight, as in after pay-out and stuff...I know I didn't miscalculate. I know for a damn fact that I had three fifties in my purse at some point...

And now I get home and find I'm short $70! Goddammit! Missing a fifty, when I remember very clearly having three in there. I didn't give one to the DJ. Fuck a duck. So either some money dribbled out of my purse while I fumbled for lipgloss or a smoke, or else some clever bitch reached over and knicked some cash while I was preoccupied (with makeup, smoking, whatever...I'm ditzy like that). I know this is my fault because I'm frequently leaving my purse open while I apply touch-ups in the mirror, and our changeroom is extremely crowded...crowded with pitiful girls who sometimes get black-eyes from 'boyfriends' when they don't make their required earnings. So I can't expect them to be honest...

it might be nice if people weren't so eager to snatch away money, but I wish I were a bit more careful. What's a sure fire way to prevent this in future? Vigilance I suppose. I think I'm just tired and ranting, because it really pisses me off to lose hard-earned cash in such a stupid way. Damn damn damn. Tonight was weird and I left early, thinking I did well enough. This isn't a fun end!

I never trust anyone expect my family but even then.......People will rob you blind for the stupidest things and if there is cash involved they are even more eager. I visited one of PDX's strip clubs about a month ago. I will not name names. It seemed quite seedy and I did not feel comfortable and was going to leave soon with my friend. Low and behold the bartender had to go in the back for a minute. Next thing you know 3 or 4 people rushed behind the bar grabbing bottles of booze and ran out. I was in shock and amazement but my friend wanted to follow them, I was like no they may have weapons and there are only two of us. We told her what happened when she came out and she seemed irrated but like that kind of thing happened everyday. For some reason she did not call the cops.

I always always always put my money in my jeans pocket (preferably front.)

Only times I've left money in my bag is when it is on my arm (and if I put it on the ground, money goes in my pocket.

Just commisserating. I lose a lot of shit. Today I'm going to have to turn the house upside down to find my wallet. I sigh at myself. Last night I lost five dollars, which is nowhere near as crappy as losing seventy -- well, it's 1/14 as crappy to be precise -- but still.

I've lost substantial sums of money TWICE at my club. Like 250+ rolls of bills. I found it, both times. Once, it was under a chair where I dropped it. The other time a girl found it and turned it in to management. I asked the manager, mostly as a joke, if anyone had found any money and he said yes and pulled out this big envelope...This blew my mind, but that's the kind of club I work in. God, I love my club.

I've know so many girls to have money stolen. Once I even had £50 stolen out of my bag from right under my nose!! Now I am always extra extra extra careful about where I leave my bag, its always right on me or by my side.
I quite often, "steal" bags from new girls who are careless about were they leave it. I know its mean but I let them look around and panic for a minute before giving it back. Obviously I never actually steal anything from anyone but I try and show these girls just how easy it is for someone to lift your hard earned cash.
There is a thief in my club at the moment, quite a lot of stuff is going missing, money, make up, phones ect. I hate this breed of stripper, we're all out there busting our ass for no money as its so quiet at the mo, and they're just helping themselves to everything and anything they fancy. It makes me so mad, we should be supporting each other, not stealing from each other. So much for solidarity!!
Sorry, this has turned into a bit of a rant, will stop now.

I can comiserate - I'm a "loser" as well. I always seem to be dropping things out of my pockets, or leaving them behind somewhere. Sometimes I'm lucky and have things returned by honest people, but I've lost plenty of wallets, cell phones, etc.

That is why I NEVER use a purse at work - a garter around my thigh or ankle secured with a rubber band (or two). And even with I've lost money a couple of times when I've been lazy and just stuck it in instead of undoing the rubber band, adding it the the stack, and then redoing the rubber band. Now I'm always concious to put in my money neatly and properly and I haven't had any money loss problems since.

I guess I should have mentioned how I try to go about NOT losing money at work. At the moment, I work at a club with plenty of lockers. I make a run to the locker just about every time I get paid. If it's super-busy and I'm getting flagged down for dances I might wait till I have $100 or so, but no longer or I will lose it for sure.

When I worked at a club without lockers, I wore stockings every day and stuffed my money into those. It might have looked a little funny, like a lump by my ankle, but I didn't worry about it much. When I first started dancing, another girl showed me how to strap my money to the heel of my shoe with a rubberband, but I don't do that anymore, as I've had to money fall off before, and you don't notice, because who goes around looking at the heels of their shoes all the time?

Overall, I think a locker is a great bet. You can also bring a suitcase and lock it with one of those tiny luggage padlocks. Don't lose the key. Of course, there has to be someone you can leave the suitcase with, like a house mom, or I suppose someone could just walk out with the whole thing.

Ditto this on the rubber band on the garter thing! I drop it off in my locker throughout the night so I don't have a giant green tumor growing out of my thigh, but I would be horribly forgetful if I carried around a bag with me.

I used to work with this girl who was great, but she rarely made much money. Usually because she was complaining about how she hadn't even had one dance instead of being positive and trying to go get one!

Anyway, one night she WAS making money, and she was in the bathroom peeing. As she got up and flushed the toilet, her purse clasp came undone, and ALL her money fell out of her purse INTO THE TOILET AND WAS FLUSHED AWAY.

    Man. Poor, poor girl.

I lost my ipod the last time I worked. It was sad. It was an old and undesirable ipod, and the girls at work are kind of accessory hounds, so I was hoping they would be all "Away from me, elderly ipod mini! Only the ipod touch is worthy of my theft".

I'm a complete retard with money. God only knows how much money I've lost out of garters, forgotten purses.. even tied around a braclet on my wrist I still lose money!!

The only way I don't is when I wear those uber tacky moneybox shoes. It gets a bit annoying when you have too much money in there though.

I've lost money more times than I care to admit due to my own carelessness. Usually it has been in small amounts, $20 or so. But after losing over $400 one night I really learned my lesson. Now I'm completely anal about watching my money at all times. And if I DO ever lose money again, I won't just be like "oh well, my bad..." I'm gonna raise holy hell! Sometimes enough is enough.

Last night my garter slipped off my leg and I didn't even realize until I went to put money in the garter and it was gone. I freaked out! I was almost in tears because I looked EVERYWHERE! Well, my manager thought it would be funny to hold onto it until I had a meltdown then he handed it to me and told me to be a little more aware.

In my 3+ years of dancing I've only lost money one time. I got home and was short one 100 dollar bill. I was bummed, but figured I've been pretty good if that is the only time. I try to always be super careful about my purse. Oh and on the slightly off topic purse vs. garter debate, I know lots of girls swear by the garter, so I gave it a go the other night, actually 2 nights in a row, and I cannot for the life of me make it work. I did it on my ankle, because I hate the look of a garter on my thigh, makes me look stubby, and it was so bulky. I mean I wasn't making mad cash or anything - maybe $4-500 but I kept having to change ALL my ones and I even did my tipouts and stage fees early to get rid of some money, but it was just awkward. Maybe girls put it in their lockers? But I don't have a safe enough dressing room for that. But $400 in twenties is a big stack, so anyway, I don't get the garter thing. I feel like an old dog though, I mean, regarding tricks.

does your purse have a little pocket inside of it? i always keep the 20s and up in the little pocket so that i dont accidently give someone a 20 or worse, a 50 or 100 when i meant to give em a bunch of 1s or 5s when i tip out at the end of the night. It also is helpful in case my purse falls and money flies all over the place, which has happened before. the money in the little pocket stays put.

I keep mine in my jacket. It is a biker jacket with lots of zipper pockets, and since it is usually cold I have it with me all the time. For whatever reason, I have actually lost the jacket for large periods of time and no one has ever realized there is money in it. There are 2 hidden pockets that are not in obvous spots and that is where I stash my money.

I always lose money. I'm a bartender and last week I lost $125.. I didn't even want to go back to work after that. I was so pissed. Another time, I lost $70, turns out I just put my own cash in the resister. *I know, I know* But my manager returned it to me. I just thought it was lost.
