My dentist gave me cavity fillings yesterday on two different teeth that were beside one another. The doc said he needed to drill a little more extensively on one than he originally thought, but that it came out beautifully. I went to go leave and noticed that my cheek looked very chipmunk-y. I thought immediately that it was the anesthetic he used, since he shot a ton into that cheek. Now it's 3a.m. (my anxiety parties at night) nearly 12 hours later, and my cheek is STILL super-swollen. I look like I am smuggling a small melon in there or something, and it hurts. The swelling is very tender.
I haven't had too many fillings before and have never had a bad reaction to novacaine/lidocaine or anything but...does anyone know, is this normal? Has this happened to you before?
It's either that or I am doomed to chipmunk cheek for life. I noticed I bit my cheek up pretty good too while it was numb.
