Default Nerd Alert - Star Trek on teh interwebs

CBS is now offering streaming online versions of classic TV shows.

    Including Classic Star Trek.

It looks like all three seasons are available. You just need a browser with Flash.

This is 100% awesome. I think I'm going to have a Trek marathon this morning while I cleanup around the house.

They also have Twilight Zone, Hawaii Five-0, MacGuyver, Melrose Place... and I bet they add more.

Nerd alert: My only question is, didn't Star Trek originally air on NBC? How did CBS get the rights? Was it because the rights were held by Desilu and Desilu got bought by CBS? Oh, well, whatevs.

Awww.... sadly, this doesn't seem to work for non-USAians. My apologies. Stoopid nationalism!

Nerd? That'd be me, for sure.

Star Trek is owned by Paramount, which is owned by Sumner Redstone's holding company, which also owns a majority stake of CBS.

For further reading on this fine citizen of the Republic and his control of idiot box content, try: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sumner_Redstone

The amount of consolidation in media allowed by recent administrations is absolutely staggering.

Hey! Wait! Star Trek questions are mine!!

    But, yeah, ...what he said.
"He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

I watched "The Naked Time" today while folding laundry.

An annoyance is that there's no full screen option, so I had to fiddle with the "zoom" option in Mac OS X to make it fill my TV screen. And the sound got out of sync with the video after a while.

Still, it's neat and free (except for the occasional ads).

Off to look for a Flash-to-QuickTime converter...

Have you tried vlc? It's not a coverter per se, but it does a decent job with .flv files on Windows, Linux, and MacOS X.

I use VLC all the time.

Another beni: You can store the files off a DVD onto a hard drive and watch the movie from the hard drive with it.

I just use DVD X-Copy Platinum for that.

I did not realize VLC would play embedded Flash files. That kinda rocks. Thanks!

The most effective estrogen dampening field I've ever seen on SW!

    Good work, boys!

    Durrrrrn! not all 24 hours
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

Awwww, Madcap, Silverback, did a woman make fun of you for liking Star Trek once? I'm sorry.

I've found it's OK to do things because I like them instead of worrying that someone, somewhere, might not.

Cool, I can watch my favorite Star Trek episode, "The Doomsday Machine."

BTW, "Spock's Brain" is best experienced when you're drunk.

Too bad they don't have the "remastered Trek" online yet.

Production values were not high for the OST. They were for ST-TNG, and to my thinking, a much better series. But I see neither of them on the site.

    Your coolness intimidates me.
