Default Facial surgery - did it make a difference in $ ?

I keep going back and forth about getting more done to my face. I know I probably want to go for it eventually, but it's not specifically for dancing, it's for ME. I'm just wondering if anyone who's had surgical improvements to their face noticed a significant increase in their money. The reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to decide if I should just go ahead and do it while I'm dancing (and make more money), or if there is no increase in $ and it should be my reward for finishing college and not dancing anymore. I'm not ugly by any means, I'm doing it to feel awesome and not just so-so about my face ... so please no "you don't need it, you're beautiful, surgery is wrong, natural is beautiful" type comments, ok?

When I do it, I'm definitely...
Replacing my chin implant - it's a U shape, which made my face too wide and doesn't project enough in profile, so all the consults I've had agree that I should get an implant which is more like a V. I had a very recessed chin.
Cheek implants - from the front I'm pretty, but in profile my cheeks are TOTALLY flat and it makes me look tired and hollow. Prominent cheeks and a defined jaw help as you age, so seeing my mother grow older who has the same problem has convinced me to do it.
Functional and cosmetic rhinoplasty - I had my deviated septum fixed when I was 19, so when I broke my nose at 22, it shattered my already delicate nasal spine. You know the part of your nose between your nostrils? Mine is completely GONE. So the surgeon would be putting in a cartilage graft to support my nose functionally, and while he's in there he's going to shave down the profile, refine the tip, and smooth out a lump.

Afterwards, I'm still going to look like myself (I've seen the simulated after pics) but like I grew into my face, or lost baby fat. I really don't want anything unnatural looking or to look like a totally different person.

Do you think my income will increase with a "prettier" face?

I think if it improves your confidence then of course it will improve your money.

Just a warning though, I work with some plastic surgery junkies and the more they get done the more insecure they get.

That being said, I plan on getting all my work done while I'm still dancing (besides necessary breast maintenance) because yes, it will benefit my career and it will be harder to justify and afford later.

Yea i think your income will increase. Alot of guys love a pretty face to go with a hot body. There is the term butterface..which you don't have I've seen a photo of you. But still your confidence will increase and you'll be happier about your face.

I've had my nose done and my money went up. I want to get another nose job done sometime soon because I'm not 100% happy, but I'll do it whenever I get around to that. I say that you should get all your surgeries now while you're young and you can recover faster.

Don't get carried away. Often enough, the more you get the more you'll start thinking that more needs to be changed. That aside, if you are have the funds and the time for it now, I'd do it now. Why wait?

I had rhinoplasty 12 weeks ago but it had nothing to do with work, it's something I have always wanted. I also had my boobs done so it would be hard to say if the nose job made a difference, the boob job definately has.

Plus my rhinoplasty was a subtle change and its still healing - there is still some swelling.

Since you've been thinking about it for a while, go ahead and do it. I don't think the physical change would increase your money, but your confidence level would.

How long would recovery be? For the cheeks and chin, would the doctor have to cut through nerves?

I think it would definatly improve your money, if even just because of increased confidence.

I would do it al the beginning of the off season, though.

How do you figure out what's lacking in a face? I say this because I totally know nothing about what makes a nice chin or nice cheeks, but I just feel a little donkey-faced in general and I wonder sometimes. Not to get off topic, but can you trust a good surgeon to give tips about these things?

For the original question, it seems to me that anything that helps you project more confidence (as has been pointed out) can only help. So long as you keep looking like a person and not one of those cat-faced scary people on tv. I'm sure you know what I mean. But sometimes the monetary differences in subtle things is almost negligible...like decent standards of looks is a bottom line, and beyond that, it's mostly just sales. Little imperfections can probably be contoured with make-up too, right? But if you want it done for yourself, you might as well try to benefit professionally from that investment as well.

I may be mistaken, but I think you had a picture in your former avatar. First of all you are beautiful. Second, I have gotten a fair amount of work and I'm pondering what else might improve my appearance. But do you ever watch those shows where people go overboard? They really do look worse because they start to look freakish.

You got good work. Don't turn into Michael Jackson. Every time plastic surgery is redone on the face the surgeon has less natural tissue to work with and its harder to get right. Plus, surgeons have an artistic eye and their judgement might be more objective than yours.

Right now my plan is to continue regular maintenance (fillers and botox) and also to get larger breast implants at some point. I would just be careful not to go overboard so that it doesn't look natural anymore. Good luck!

I agree with the above...if it will boost your confidence you will make more money. I had a nose job back in December, and I am making more money now. There are way too many factors in trying to figure out why I am making more money, though, so I dont know if it had much to do with it.

sorry to threadjack but how is your nose healing?
i saw my surgeon the other week and he said the tip is still swollen (which it can be for up to one year post op) so i will still see improvements in the tip as the months go on.

It's healing great! My surgeon said the same thing, but my nose is not noticably swollen at all. I love it as it is right now, and am hoping it doesnt change too much in the next year. (and when can I see pics of your nose?!)

I dont really wanna post here of my face but u could pm me your email and ill send u my pics!!
If the tip of your nose still feels a little hard or stiff it means its still swollen apparently.
Im really happy with mine too! I cant believe i finally did it! Ive wanted to since i was about 12.

I've also been wanting rhinoplasty since I was 11 or 12, I'm a bit scared to do it though.

i wont lie, it is scary. any surgery is scary and particularly when you are placing your trust in a surgeon not to mutilate your face.
i have photos of me the week after my surgery that would scare u LOL.
But if you pick the right surgeon it should turn out great.
Im so glad that I did it and i no longer have the think about getting it done.

I used to hate it if someone looked at the side of my face - I would quickly turn my head to face them.

What did you have to do in terms of post surgical care? When can you go back to the gym?

    How painful was it?

There was no pain whatsoever. The nose remained numb for a few weeks so I felt nothing.

The surgeon may put packing inside the nose. I had a disolvable packing which took about a week and a half to fully dissolve. You use a product called FESS which is a saline spray inside the nose to help dissolve the packing.

By far the worse part of rhinoplasty for me was not being able to breath out of my nose. My mouth was dry and i could not sleep properly because i kept waking up with a dry mouth and i was also snoring. This lasted about 4 weeks!!

Shit at the time but all worth it in the end.

For the first week you must sleep on 2-3 pillows to reduce swelling.

You can start doing light walking 2 weeks after surgery but vigourous training not for 6 weeks. I thought this would be a problem but I felt really tired for a few weeks after my surgery (but remember I had rhinoplasty, septoplasty and breast augmentation all in the one procedure).

    What's septoplasty?

I don't know if I could handle time away from training, don't know how I'd de-stress.

septoplasty is corrective surgery for a deviated septum. that part of the surgery was performed by an ear nose and throat surgeon.
it was supposed to give me relief from my sinusitis but im not yet sure if it has as im still having symptoms.

yeh i was concerned about missing gym and i thought i would be tempted to go back early.

if your nose gets bumped within the first 6 weeks while it is still very soft and delicate it will ruin the whole outcome of the surgery so you should not do anything that puts your nose at unnecessary risk - even going out to crowded areas like shopping centres - although i did, i was very careful.

I would say that much work done would undoubtedly give an odd look to your face.

Once you do too much you can tell. That list is too much.

I mean, im far from perfect and i have had a few things done and i stress very few for people who know who this is. But that list is too long for the face.

I have never thought any cheek implants looked good ever.

I don't think my money has increased or decreased after doing what i have done.

Argh. I didn't ask if you think I should have surgery. You don't know me personally and have no idea what will make me look and feel good.

A weak chin, flat cheeks, and prominent nose usually go together. My ex who was a surgeon said the standard rich Jewish girl high school graduation present was cheeks-chin-nose. They're interconnected. I'm going for naturally well proportioned, not cartoonish.

And people never think cheek implants look good because the ones you can tell are implants are overdone. They come in lots of shapes and sizes. No one can tell my chin is in part an implant.

Anyone responding with an anti-surgical sentiment is wasting their time.

What about posting your current pic from the doc. consult and simulated after pics ? I know you've heard this before, but your face is already great looking ( V.S. did have a pic on her avatar before ).

I know a ton of girls like this. Hell, I fit into that group to. And none of my firends/classmates have that. My sister is graduating this year, and none of her pals are doing that either. A few nose jobs maybe, but not all that.

    just saying.

Strictly on whether you'd make more money, I doubt it. I have noticed butherface girls do better than girls with the opposite problem. If you are getting very subtle work done, I don't think it will make a difference in money unless it is so important to you that your confidence will go way up.

But like you said you're mostly doing it for you, so go for it. Just be careful, which you're obviously smart enough to do. Just sayin' I don't think the customers would notice it any more than they'd notice if you trimmed your hair.
