Default Hair colour queens i need your help!!

Im wantin to change my look, my hair at the moment is dyed chesnut brown with a few dark blonde streaks(natural colour is a darkdirty dishwater blonde)
Anyway i would like to start going gradually blonde thou im not sure how blonde as i have very pale skin.I dont want platinum but i also like the light and darker colours to contrast.
Any ideas on what sort of colours i should be looking at or even what i should be askin for?
My salon is very expensive and i can only really afford to have my hair coloured every 8 weeks or so.

Ive added a pic of me, sorry about the quality it was the only one i could find and sorry bout my huge arm in the way lol

Wooooooooooooooooooooo! You are going to have a heck of a time getting your current dye out to go platinum. Also, platinum hair doesn't look so great if you can only get it done every 8 weeks. Trust me, I am platinum and I feel like crap by the time I hit week 3.

I think a light (but not too light) Strawberry blond would suit you very well, and be more forgiving to your hair. Maybe you can even leave some chestnut low-lights.

I don't consider myself a color "queen", lol but I can give you some advice. If you are going to a very expensive salon I hope you are getting what you pay for. They should have the best recommendation for you. But I would suggest getting a few blonde highlights every eight weeks until you get to where you want to be. A photo of what sort of "look" you would like achieve will probably be helpful as well.

Slices are heavy highlights. I would have a few woven in for now unless you want a chunky effect. They will have to bleach your hair to lighten it since you have color on it. You could go more natural by having small sections wove throughout your head or go more dramatic by having a few areas of heavy slicing throughout your head.

just keep highlighting until you get to your desired effect. If you don't have a regular stylist you go to for color, do your research. Talk to friends/family/coworkers you think have great hair. Go online and look at salon reviews. Make appointments at several salons for color consultations.

I wouldn't demand weaving vs. slicing from a stylist, every hand is diferent and every stylist has thier own flair to a technique. Bringing in pics, like greenidlady suggested, would be much more helpful to a stylist... one client's "chunky" could very well be "subtle" to some stylists.

    Thanks for the advice ladies!
Im really liking Kate Hudson's golden tresses in Almost famous, so i think i might just go for highlights and steet clear of the chunkier ones.
