    Default MAC must haves?

I'll be in Houston next weekend and wanted to stop by the MAC store to make my first purchases! I would like new eyeliner and mascara, do they make good ones? I don't need any kind of foundation or powder, I'm a bare escentuals junkie for that! I would also like some pigment eye shadows. I LOVE bright, fun colors. I'd only like to spend around $100. What shade/kinds do you recommend? I attached a pic so you can see my skin tone and hair color.

No No No MAC mascaras- lol. They are not worth the cost. You're better off going into a drugstore or going to a Lancome counter and try one of those.

I know lots of MAC fans like the Fluidlines, so you should take a look at those and see how you like them.

You're almost the same as me skin and hair wise.

I'd reccomend the Fluidline gel eyeliner in Carbon which is a nice black.

Eyeshadow wise I LOVE knight devine, which is a nice grayish color, cause it will go day or night with pretty much any color. Mulch is another good neutral.

For brights, clarity is a nice bright blue that I like to put with Electric eel, which is slightly darker.

Passionate is also a really lovely red/pink.

    HTH.

The Fluidline gel eyeliner in Carbon should be a staple of every gal's makeup case! Regardless of skin or haircolor. Most of us need a black eyeliner and this is the best you will ever find.

I agree with PleasureVictim on the MAC mascaras...they SUCK! I bought the plush lash (spent 14$ on it) and it was the WORST mascara I have ever used. I ended up going to CVS and buying the Maybelline XXL.

What color are your eyes? I can't really tell from the pic.
I find that blue tones look best on brown eyes, purple tones green/hazel eyes, and earthy tones on blue eyes.

You will get alot of different opinions on here.....only a makeup artist can give you a true professional suggestion. The girls at the MAC counter are really knowledgeable and can help you pick the right shades.

Oh crap, I forgot to tell you, get the #311 brush if you get the Fluidline. It works the best for being able to create a wide range of thickness with your line.
Speaking of MAC brushes, get them. If you are going to invest in the eye makeup you should invest in their brushes as well. Trust me, you'll see!

Fluidline's black shade is Blacktrack, not Carbon. Carbon is a black eye shadow which is awesome! I already gave my recs in Kaylinn's thread of the same name. Sorry I just don't feel like typing them again. There's a link to it in the Similar Threads section below. For bright eye shadows, you can't pass up Humid (emerald green), Electric Eel (matte electric blue), Parfait Amour (shimmery purple), Sushi Flower (bright pink), or Deep Truth (deeper blue, so sexy).

ETA: I use the 263 brush for Fluidline.

Does anyone else use the iridescent dusting powders? I like them because they are shimmery but not glittery.

Other than that the only MAC is use I eyeshadow in Shroom. Its a nice bone color I usually apply from my eyelashes to my brow bone before I layer anything over it.

^^I use the Iridescent Powder in Belightful as a cheekbone highlight and love it! Oh yeah, I use it for highlighting my cleavage too

Thats exactly what I do with it too!! I use Silver Dusk since I'm pasty white. Every time I "make boobies" with it by using bronzer in my cleavage and highlight with silver dusk EVERYONE in the dressing room wants to know my secret. I do the same with my cheekbones and sometimes a dusting on my shoulders.

^^I just bought Belightful on your recommendation, it's freaking awesome. <3

I use the 266 brush for fluidline (only because my counter doesn't carry the 263).

I <3 the eyeshadow in Club. It's this great duochrome color, that's turquoise and brown, and works really well with Surreal and Steamy for a great turquoise/green look.

I'm in love with the eyeshadow Nylon. It's a good shimmery color to wear at work all over the lid if you're not in the mood to do anything fancy and artsy.

Club is one of my fav's too! It looks kinda dull in the pan, but is actually really nice. Perfect for a Smokey eye or all over.

Is blacktrack darker than the Smolder pencil? This is the only way I will try a Fluidline...I've been tempted but never got around to trying it.

LR- i was gonna say the same thing

I also think a brown eyeliner is essential, and fluidline in dipdown brown is great.
I think mac's pigments are must haves (in whatever color you wear most often) because they last SO long and they are worthwhile, and don't come off by the end of the night.

cannot echo enough about the mascaras --- so not worth it - i like the XXL (covergirl i think) from cvs, with a white and a black side.

oh. i also really like mac's makeup wipes, great for making a cat eye effect, or cleaning up your face.

    Love it!

i really dislike mac foundations. if ur used to bare minerals, then ur skin is gonna really go into shock with mac. mac makes me break out hella. i do however, loooove mac pigments, and eye shadows, lip gloss, lip sticks. don't waste ur money on the mascara's, they're not too good in the mascara dept. honestly, for mascara, i use covergirl or maybelline. i've tried dior, chanel, lancome, all the luxury brands, and nothing does better then some good old dept. store brands.

Eyeshadow in Cranberry is my number one all time favourite.
I'm also loving the paint pots. I've been using Bare Study as eyeshadow base and highlight colour (so I just paint it on all over up to my brow bone and then apply the rest of my eyeshadow over the top - seems to make it stay much better).
And, as has been mentioned, Fluidline is awesome. I have several colours of that but mostly just use Blacktrack.
Also love Club eyeshadow. I usually put it with Vex if I'm not doing a fairly simple smokey eye kinda thing.

Eyeshadows- Brun (deep brown) Beauty Marked (black with a cool purpley sheen/glitter to it) and Tempting (a really pretty goldy glittery shade)

The brun is great for shading as well as lining. I use beauty marked when I need an extra oompf, and I've gotten a lot of compliments at the club with it. Tempting goes well to add a little extra sparkle, and it looks great dusted over Brun.

Another vote for blactrack fluidline---this stuff is great, stays on all night!
As far as eyeshadows, I really like Phloof, which is a light iridescent color and awesome for blending and brow bone work, Satellite Dreams, which is a dark purple with reflective bits, and seconding LatinaRose, Humid, this great shimmery green shade.

Have fun! I love spoiling myself at the MAC store

Black tied. Love that shadow for drama. It comes with a silver shimmer and now has a cousin that has a greeny gold shimmer. Purty

Also the waterproof eye liner. It won't sweat or cry off. I've tried. Plus mac makes great lashes

Regular eye pencil in Engraved is an absolute must have for me. I don't care if I'm broke as hell, I'll never go back to drug store eyeliners after using it.

There are so many amazing shadows - black tied, carbon, beauty mark (do they still carry that?), velvet moss, white frost is another staple for me. My favorite lipglass of all time is C-thru. For lipsticks I wear Bronx or Red Hot. Or lovedust when I'm super tan.
