Default ? for those of you who have had rhinoplasty

...how long did you wait to go back to work after the surgery?

I remember going back to work a week after I had septoplasty, but then I was a bartender, and there was a lot less chance of someone bumping into me and/or hitting my nose behind the bar. I'm already paranoid just thinking about the possibility of a custy or someone accidentally hitting it, or having a klutz attack and hitting it on the pole or something...and totally messing up the whole thing...eeek. I'm not too worried about the bruising b/c arnica works wonders for that; just worried about the possibility of it getting banged up while the bones are still soft.

Did you lose much fitness or conditioning? Did you do other forms of exercise?

I train with a trainer for one hour 3 times per week and I do cardio the other 2 days. After the surgery I did nothing! I was too tired and for 4 weeks couldn't breathe out of my nose properly. I could have done walking but I felt depressed after the surgery and didn't feel like doing much. I take SSRIs for anxiety and have had problems in the past with anxiety/depression.

I didn't gain any weight (except the weight of the breast implants haha) but I certainly lost strength. I was back to my former strength within 3-4 weeks though. But I do train really intensly.

i'm considering getting a rhino and what i have heard is around 1 month. you will still have to be very very careful not to bump your nose though a light bump against it wont harm it.

I felt the worst I have pretty much ever felt. Almost suicidal - I won't lie it was fucking miserable. Yes I had to increase my meds by 50mgs. I am still on the increased dosage.

I went back to gym 6 weeks later and no it didn't affect the swelling by then.

Thanks. My doctor said I could go back one week after and "just be careful", but that seems like a really short time. I'm thinking about going back to waitressing 2 weeks after (b/c then I'm not doing LDs or dancing, so I think there's less risk?), and going back to dancing after a month.

^same thing the dr i consulted w/ said, 1 weeks but do be prepared for alot of swelling. You may not look so great at 1 week...Ive heard it can take up to 6mos for most the swelling to go down cuz everyone heals differently. here check out this site before you go through w/ surgery so you know more of what to expect: www.rhinoplasty4you.com

it takes a full 12 months to see the final result because the inside of the nose is very slow to heal.

My dr. said 2 weeks for a regular job and 3 weeks for a job where you are excersizing (i.e. stripping). I was perscribed Medrol (steroids) for one week, so they made me feel really anxious but not depressed. When I ran out of the Medrol, I did feel a little depressed.

how long until you looked less swollen and decent to be in public? what did you have done exactly? i've seen and heard of some people swelling up so bad w/ a nose bigger than what they hadd before for a couple months! now THAT would depress me for sure

I was out 3 weeks, and I had my tits done the same time. I just didn't do any pole tricks or anything the first few weeks back. You'll be fine with like two weeks I would think.
