Default OMG a wart on my knee :(

i am really grossed out right now. i have this little wart on my knee! never had one before and i have a feeling its from doing floor work on the stage w/o my blanky! or maybe even just brushing my leg against the pole groosss!

any ideas how to get rid of it w/o having to burn it off or visit a doc?

could it be from the pole? i will keep using my blanky for floor work but not much i can do abou the pole

Warts are a virus. Yes you could have contracted it from work esp if you have not had warts before - if you had then you wouldn't catch it again.

I don't advise getting it burnt or iced off as I used to have one wart on my knee (from gymnastics - doing floor) and after getting it iced it spread and there were heaps of little ones.

Nothing works - it's a virus that has to get out of your system. People told me I would wake up one day and they would be gone - it was true.

Best bet would be to talk to the doctor about it. They may have better treatments these days - this was a good 10 years ago when I did gymnastics and i tried icing it off with dry ice, using wart cream. I even tried dog piss on it (my elderly neighbour came up with that one). But truly it just has to leave your system.

no he wasn't!! LOL. Dog urine is really strong and urine is sterile so in theory it sort of makes sense and I actually tried it accidentally. I had a puppy at the time and I stepped in his piss - I had warts on my feet too as we always went bare feet in gymastics. Not long after my warts had gone. I thought it might have been the piss but i didn't put any on my knee so i think it was had just left my system.

I feel for ya, I once got the hepes virus on my knee from work. It really freaked me out that my place of work was so unclean, it was horrible. It started of as a little spot and it grew and grew till it was about an inch and half wide. I didn't even know you could get herpes on your leg but seemingly you can get it anywhere on your body. Hope your warts are gone soon hon. In the meantime maybe wear socks or stockings and a band aid to stop it from spreading to other girls.

I have a wart on my knee too I've had it forever. It's a pain in the ass, and I can't get it to go away to save my life (freezing, at home treatments, essential oils...)

If you find a cure, let me know. Mine has turned into like 4 warts now, and it's irritating.

I had a wart on my foot as a kid and I convinced my brother to cut it off with scizzors. Barbaric, but it worked. It disappeared.

Other than that, hah try 'Wart Off' from the pharmacy, or go to your doctor and get it burned or frozen off.

You can get a wart from any open cut/wound.

My bf used to sand his down on his knee with the side of a matchbox, then put wart treatment on it. Apparently it hurt and took ages, but it went.

I had them on my hand when I was younger and they cleared themselves up as did my verruca. Your body will fight the virus, but it can take up to 2yrs+

I'm going to tell you straight up what my doctor told me, no joke. I went in to ask her to freeze off a wart and she said to use duct tape. She said it's been known as a home remedy for a long time, but that recently a scientific study found it is MORE effective than cryotherapy. I did it, and it worked! No pain, no more wart. Over 2 years and it hasn't come back. In the study they left the tape on 24 hours a day for 6 days. I didn't, of course, because of work. I just wore it most of the time. It was gone in less than a month.

See here: Duct Tape More Effective for Wart Removal Than Cryotherapy.

    From that site:

The study was a prospective, randomized controlled trial with two treatment arms. Participants were patients three to 22 years of age who had viral warts and presented to a military clinic. Participants were randomized to receive cryotherapy or occlusive therapy with duct tape. Cryotherapy consisted of 10-second applications of liquid nitrogen to each wart every two to three weeks for a maximum of six treatments. The other group applied small pieces of duct tape to each wart. They were instructed to leave the tape in place for six days and were taught how to re-apply tape if it fell off. At the end of the sixth day, the patients removed the duct tape, soaked the wart in water, and gently debrided it with an emery board or pumice stone. The tape was left off overnight, then re-applied for another six days. This pattern was repeated for two months or until the wart resolved. Warts that did not resolve were measured. The main outcome measured was complete resolution of the wart.

In patients treated with duct tape, 85 percent of the warts completely resolved, compared with 60 percent in the cryotherapy group.

actually the best medicine for warts right now is injectable Bleomycin which in small amounts works in one treatment. Unfortunately a doc has to do it. Other than that.....as far as over the counter remedies, consider Duofilm applied sparingly daily. Any pharmacy should have it without a prescription.

Finally, and believe it or not, a small piece of duct tape applied daily occludes the wart, and it dies. Don't use lotions before trying this since the tape won't stick, and it has to be left on 24/7 just change it daily

No, it doesn't. That's how they did it in the study, but not the only way that works. Read a couple posts up.

Oh my GAWD it's HPV you whore!!!

(hahah, kidding, hope youve read the bunny ranch thread recently )

Okay, I got one on my knuckle that was REALLY bad and gross. I had it sprayed with nitrogen at the dermies LITERALLY 20 times and then finally they injected it with some shit twice and sprayed it on top of that twice and it died and went away.

They will go away automatically anywhere from a couple months to a couple years, but this wart was so disgusting I couldn't wait years. It took 40 weeks WITH Treatements to rid of!!

    Warts Blow.

Y'know for the longest time as a child I had a massive wart on my finger and like ten warts all over my body. I just woke up one day and they we all gone - randomly. Everyone one of 'em. Haven't had them since.

    Now I know why. Huh.

Mine was maybe the size of a dime, but again,I guess the knuckle is a really bad place to get one and really hard to get rid off....

I wouldn't worry about your knee too much, you could always put a bandage over it and just say you skinned your knees giving me head!

Just stick with the duct tape if you do it! It will work, you just have to give it time. And don't forget to do the soak and file steps of the process too (see link).

    Good luck!

I used a home freeze off kit (Wartner) to get rid of my Plantar wart. They are generally more stubborn that regular ones.

It says to freeze it like once every 2 weeks... I used that shit every day till I could tell it had died. Then I used manicure scissors to cut it off and POOF it was gone.

Prob a ghetto way of going about it, but it REALLY hurt. It was on my "ring" toe and killed when I wore shoes.

^you can soak it in hot water and then slowly cut little pieces off with a nail clipper (sterilized.) this is slower than duct tape

if you see the seeds, pick them out with tweezers and repeat every few days.

I've also heard that you can cut a piece of garlic and tape it to the wart and this takes it off. mad garlic powder.
