    Protecting your stuff

It seems like things are quite varied on SW as to what the best way is to protect your money and gear at work; some people feel completely safe with their locker or even leaving stuff lying out, but I've also read about other girls who put padlocks on anything and everything.

I'm not sure if the club I want to start at has lockers or not, and if so, how safe they actually are. What do you girls do to safeguard your stuff? I definitely prefer the idea of keeping my $$$ double-banded around my ankle so its physically on me, but I'm not sure about things like my make-up, clothes, cell phone etc. Some posts suggested putting a padlock on your dancer bag, but couldn't some crazy biatch just cut through the bag if she really wanted to?

Stop me if I'm reading too much into this lol! I'm just worried I might make some blatantly naive move and wind up having to pay to replace a bunch of stuff before I'm even earning properly!

    Thanks ladies!

I so don't blame you for being freaked out about this. Hell, with the way girls steal and all....!
I always keep my money double-banded around my ankle no matter what, even in a club that has lockers you can padlock. The reason I do this is because at my old club, girls would see someone put a bunch of money into the locker, then have their lock cut! They would give they management some sob story about how it's a new lock and they forgot their combination, or if it was a key lock say they lost their key. They would send a bouncer in with a bolt cutter, and voila'
If your new club has no lockers, I guess maybe bring a small suitcase that you can padlock and find a good stash spot, or ask if you may keep it in the office. Some places even have a luggage room that a house mom is in charge of. There is still a chance of someone walking out with it, but I have never actually seen this happen. Try as much as you can not to let anyone get a good look at what is in it, say if you have really expensive makeup, cute outfits, or whatever. I see so many girls that just dump their stuff all out on the floor or the counter for everyone to see.....it's easier for someone to "case" you that way.

ive been dancing almost 2 years, and ive worked in a bunch of clubs. ive never locked my stuff up. the only thing ive EVER had stolen was a new navy blue eyeliner from mac, which i couldve lost myself.

i keep my money on me, and in places where i carried a bag, my phone, too. but i wouldnt be worried if i couldnt keep my phone.

I bring as little as possible into the club. I keep my makeup in my bag for touch ups, as well as deodorant, body spray, etc. I don't keep spare outfits or thongs in my bag--I keep them in plastic zip lock bags in another bag in my car. If I get a drink spilled on me and need to change, I can walk out the back door and grab a new outfit, there's no reason to bring it in to the club. My wallet and ipod stay locked in my car. I also kept my cell out there last weekend, but in the past I've brought it in and kept it at the bottom of the bag.

I would be pissed as hell if I lost my makeup, but that's really about it. My cash is on me all night long so thats not even an issue. I keep my bag fully zipped, and put my street clothes on top of everything, so someone has to really dig around to get to the makeup and other stuff. I also try to keep my stuff as close to the house mom as possible, and away from one girl who I feel might have 'sticky fingers'.

Bottom line, if you reduce your stuff to steal, its less likely someone will steal from you! At least for my club, my car is right outside the dr door, no reason to bring my whole wardrobe with me.

Besides the stuff I need, I don't bring valuables into the club. I don't have a locker where I work, but we have a housemom, and the bag I use can be locked. I just keep my stuff behind the desk and try to bring as little as possible to work. I keep all my money and my phone on me at all times. I'm very skeptical about leaving my stuff out because the last time I did that, I turned away for one second and my purse was gone.

At another club I kept my stuff in the office until I got a locker. Usually pretty safe there cause they had cameras.

I've had EVERYTHING stolen, TWICE. You never know what people are going to do, or when. I have an oversized tool box that is heavy and always locked. I love my outfits and shoes and pride myself on having stuff that no one else has, so I don't want to lose it all again. It's a big grey box that can be locked in four different ways, thankfully, once it's locked on one side no one can get in... Makes me happy and being the only one in the club with it, NO ONE can wlak out with out someone seeing them.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

Some crazy bitches have sticky fingers. I lock stuff up.

I know that some people are just kleptomaniacs and they can't help themselves. But they take things if an opportunity presents itself. Bring a duffel bag or book bag with two zippers and use a small TSA lock to keep the bag shut. Bring a Combination lock, just in case the club does have lockers, so that you can store your stuff safely.

If I do my makeup at the club I take it out to my car before I get changed just to be safe. I have way to much $$ spent on makeup to leave it in the club. I don't have a locker so I can't put it in there.
