    Default Super dry skin-help!

So, I have been hitting the tanning bed a lot lately since I just went back to work after not working for 2 years. Now my skin is sooo horribly dry. I have used a couple of bronzers with the tanning bed. I really don't know what to do for it. My quick fix is an oil bath and vaseline after the bath. That just is not doing the trick. Can anybody recommend something? Other than staying out of the tanning bed.

Not to be redundant - stay out of the tanning bed. It will give you cancer and prematurely age you.

    Eucerin: http://www.eucerinus.com/products/hb_original.html
The creme goes on almost thick; it doesn't spread well, but it does absorb fast and it doesn't feel sticky or tacky on your skin, but it feels almost sticky when you are spreading it. It is a wonderfully effective product and and it unscented (important for me). I have very dry skin, and it works really well, although I might try the lotion next time to see how it compares.

Exfoliate the dead skin cells. Don't let the shower get too hot, as that will also strip skin of its moisture. Aveeno has some good continuous moisturizers, or try cream instead of lotions.

I'm going to try the Eucerine myself. The skin on my body feels very soft and smooth, but if you look closely enough you see the dryness, and the area right under my knee caps look like leather. I've tried smothering myself with various things after I get out of the shower; olive oil, mineral oil, baby oil, vaseline, body serum, coca butter, all sorts of store-bought lotions and creams... I'm gonna try coconut oil next and if that doesn't work Eucerine. I don't exfoliate often though and I take very very hot showers...

I've noticed that when I have super dry, almost reptilian skin, normally after getting too much sun, pure shea butter(unrefined preferably) REALLY helps. Any lizard'ish skin is gone pretty quickly, and stays that way for a while. Cocoa butter is also good.

Yes, love shea^. I have a bottle of avacado oil (natural vitamin e) & use it on skin, hair & nails. I also have put it on cuts, it's very healing.

Gold Bond lotion is really good. I used it when I had an allergic reaction to something that dried out my skin so bad I was peeling and cracking. I got a bottle of Gold Bond and kept applying it every couple hours. I also got some of those moisturising gloves you put on at night after slathering on lotion.

2 days later my skin was back to normal.

Real cocoa butter. Not cocoa butter lotion, but actual pure cocoa butter. Shea butter works too, but I don't like the way it smells; cocoa butter has a slight chocolatey aroma and soaks into your skin faster. And yes, stay out of the tanning bed for pretty skin!

I like putting on baby oil right after my shower. I do it before I've even dried off, and just pat my skin dry with a towel afterwards. I swear my skin is now so soft. I think the key is applying it when you're still wet. I've only been doing it about a week now, and I notice a big difference.

I think I used cocoa butter lotion... Gold Bond lotion didn't work for me, and I couldn't stand the smell lol!

I've done this with olive oil. I don't want to do it very often or my skin gets too oily (mine isn't all that dry), but it does work well. This is what ancient Greek and Roman women used to do for soft skin.

What the hey, could be a use for that shitty "pure" olive oil that has no flavor and isn't worth cooking with! (Makes for nice hair treatments too.)

    Hmm, didn't smell for me?

Hope you find something that works for you.

I used the kind in the green bottle, I think it also came in a red or yellow bottle. Everytime I used it I felt like I was about to get a needle.

Oh, maybe it's not the one I'm referring to- I use the white bottle and it's relatively new:

7 moisturisers in that thing; awesome stuff!

That explains it. I was using this green one. Didn't do jack for my dry skin.

Thanks. I think I try the cocoa butter or the gold bond.

I know I should not tan but all those damn sunless tanners stink. Those dry my skin out too and then I end up peeling and it looks dirty.

Honestly I think the bronzer that I used made my skin drier than just the tanning alone.
