Would it mean that all employers would have to pay actual min. wage, and not tipped min. wage?

From the site under "Summary"
"Tax Free Tips Act of 2007 - Amends the Internal Revenue Code to exempt tips from the income tax, social security and railroad retirement taxes, unemployment taxes, and tax withholding. Defines "tips" as any gratuity provided to a salaried employee by a customer or client of the employer's business."
Basically if I'm reading this right, is that salaried employees who receive tips do not have to report them as income, ie taxes. So if a dancer is paid a minimum wage, and receives tips, only the min. wage is taxed, the tips are "free and clear".
oh i thought it meant that anyone who lives on tips does not have to pay taxes on them, i didnt think it meant with minimum wage.
Well if that was the case, most dancers would be reporting no income, and then how would uncle Sam collect taxes from you?![]()

well I think if a person works TIPS then they are required to have a minimum wage, ie the restaurant industry.
although this appears to be federal, and ofcourse states have their own taxes as well.
no they would report the income, but not have to pay taxes on it, hence not having to pay taxes on tips.
sort of like even if you dont owe the irs or state taxes you still have to file.
but like i said maybe i read it wrong.
then again if strippers were paid a minimum wage even if it were say the 2.15 an hour like waitresses make (or whatever it is now i dont recall) i bet you more girls would show up on time and for their shifts.
Calling Melonie or another LS (legalspeak) translator! Is that right? No taxes on tips? And what's the likelihood of it actually getting passed?
