    Default progesterone for pmdd

I read online here about women with pmdd (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) taking progesterone to help their mood.

I haven't officially been diagnosed with this disorder but it seems as though right before my period things I can typically handle come crashing down. It's like I'm passive or just easy-going about most things throughout the month but before my period the things that I let go I want to kill someone over.

I read progesterone can help. Anyone know anything about this?

There's a lot of controversy around whether it's good for you at all, and the natural vs synthetic, etc. It's definitely an issue where you need to do a lot of research to figure out what's right for you.

For me, personally, I think if you have those symptoms it's probably more useful to figure out what's going on and why your body's not creating/regulating your hormones in balance, rather than adding hormones. I saw a friend who's an herbalist and a nutritionalist, and she made me a tincture to address my dopamine and hyperestrogenation and liver stress. It helped a lot. Then she told me to stop eating gluten, and that helped the rest of the way. I've tried going off the tincture and reintroducing gluten, and I seem to need both.

I am already on anti-depressants. And I agree I should do more research before adding anything else. I just can't tolerate any bs before my period at all. I start having fantasys about serioiusly hurting those who have hurt me. I know it's not worth it to do anything and that is what stops me.

^ See, I don't really understand this, but I'm pretty sure your dopamine is directly connected to estrogen production/hormone regulation, so if your depression is dopamine related it might make sense to look at it as one whole issue. I think?

I would think my depression is mostly from lack of serotonin and norepinephrine since that's what Effexor contains. I tryed Wellbutrin once which is mostly a Dopamine inhibitor but it made me really hyperactive.

I realize I do get down in my moods before my period and I think my realizing that helps me to try to focus on staying more positive. I am suppose to start tomorrow but my period usually runs a day or two late. I feel great today but yesterday and the day before I had just had it.
