    Default Super dry face!

Hey ladies, having an issue here. The skin on my face is SUPER dry--like coming off in flakes all the time dry. I've tried so much stuff--lately it's been putting Lubriderm Ultra Sensitive on after I get out of the shower. Usually the effects last about 5 hours and then it's back to flaky skin. The other side effect of this is that the heavy moisturizers are playing hell with my skin and I'm breaking out all over the place, but the light moisturizers don't do squat.

I hate that it's making my foundation look obvious and FULL of flakes (even if I smother my face in moisturizer before applying) and it's just nasty. The rest of my skin is dry but not anywhere near this bad--normal moisturizer takes care of it fine and it's not flaky.

    Help!

I totally know and understand your frusturation I just got my skin looking decent after the wheather has chapped it.

What I did was this oncea week:
    wash face w/ mild soap
boil a pot of hot water and held head over the steam 5 mins
spread a tiny amount of smashed avacado then rinsed after 1 min

on top of that i bought a mild mousturizer for the morning and a more intensive on for night. i started using real mineral makeup as well. good luck!

I have really dry skin too, which gets worse when I travel. Esp when I travel from Fl(with high humidity) to LA(desert air). I coat my face with Lush Almond moisturizer every night and chapstick or vaseline on my lips and it helps a lot. I also exfoliate with St Ives Apricot cleanser or scrub every day which helps the flaking

I also have dry skin. If my skin is peeling and I don't have a lot of time, I take a dry wash rag and vaseline a slough off the peeling skin.

Evey day before I put on my make up, I take a wet wash cloth and put it in the microwave for 45 sec. Then I put pure vitamin e lotion on my face or vaseline. Then I massage the lotion in with the wash cloth. The heat from the wash cloth will open your pores and help the moisture absorb quicker. Then I wipe off the excess. I have been doing this for years. I know that it may be too greasy for some people. There is also a product called creamy vaseline. That stuff is awesome. You could use that instead. I also like to use the pure vitamin E stuff at night. It is greasy and gets in my hair, but for me, dry skin is worse.

One winter my skin was so bad. My face was sensitive, crusty dry and in pain. I used when hope is not enough by philosophy. I have also used hope in a jar dry sensitive and my skin was back to normal in no time. I have combo usually and didn't break out either.

I also naturally have extremely dry skin. I use Natural Ice chapstick all the time, and when I shower I use this milk face wash i got at walmart. I put the face wash on and then I use a pumice stone to lightly exfoliate the areas that are the most dry (face scrubs have never done anything for me). When I get out of the shower, I use Olay moisterizing face lotion for sensative skin, wait for it to soak in, then apply more.

I have dry skin too. I think you should exfoliate more often to get rid of the flakes and feel softer and this will help with the acne too. There's 2 kinds of exfoliators out there- manual (aka uses little beads ) and acidic (such as alpha hydroxy acid or gycolic acid.) I like the L'oreal microdermabrasion kit (manual exfoliation) and L'oreal and Neutrogena make good gycolic acid exfoliators. You could use both kinds of exfoliators. Also use a humidifier in the winter and a good moistuizer. I know what you mean about some moisturizers don't do anything. Once you've exfoliated more then maybe you can use a heavier moisturizer w/o breaking out.

My nose started peeling, I guess it was weather related. I used coconut oil and it went away. Don't exfoliate too much either. Clarins cosmetics has a lot of wonderful products for dehydrated and/or dry skin.

I use glycerine... just discovered it and dealt with this for years and now it's all good!
