This is the best show ever. Did anyone watch it ? It makes me feel warm and fuzzy. It makes me want to go out and help people.
I love Oprah .

Seriously, no one watched ? BOO. It's awsome . They have 10 people given money and an assignment to change the lives of total strangers and the big twist is whoever does the most good (and the participants didn't know this) wins a million dollars.
Todays show was awesome. One team got a homeless lady a place to live, money for her kids college, a new car and cash to start her life over. Another woman's husband was murdered and she had twins to care for and was worried about loosing her home and keeping her daughters in school so a team organized a block party and raised $50,000 towards the mortgage and got the girl's catholic school to extend them a scholarship into highscool and then had them fill out cards on helium balloons they released so thier dad could get a message in heaven.
Yay ! Oprah does so much good . I think it's inspiring.

I think it's sad when it takes the hope of a million dollars from a talk-show bitch to motivate people to help each other. Seriously, what does that say about us as a nation?
Oprah is a horrible person, aside from her little ratings-boosters. I look forward to a day when we all help each other out because it's right, not because we might get fifteen minutes on TV.
The contestans didn't know about the million dollars when the signed up for the show. I just think it's a cool concept because it could be a catalyst for a lot of people to do even little things to help other people. It got me thinking about things I could do to help someone else.
Oprah is a horrible person? I think that's extreme. She could be doing Jerry Springer type stuff or following Brittney around but she seems to want to really help people be more aware and get involved. WHY does that make her horrible ? Even if one person makes a positive difference in thier own community after watching her show, isn't that positive ?

Oprah does a lot of good things to help people and I have never found her show to be exploitative like Dr. Phil's is. There is something I really don't like about Dr. Phil.
I'm not a fan of Oprah, I find most of her shows boring - interviewing celebs etc but I agree she does a lot of good things with her money.
There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.
Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.
I dig Oprah too. I think shes doing more good with her shows than harm. The celebrity shows she does dont appeal to me at all but the kindness and more down to earth shows are very good IMO.
I wanna know why you say Oprah is horrible Yekhefa, did you meet her?
Yeah I want to know that too.![]()

WARNING!!! BIG, OBNOXIOUS OPRAH RANT AHEAD!!!
Oprah is an asshole.
I remember one of her shows years ago, they were talking about religion and faith. One of her audience members stands up and starts with, "I really don't believe in Jesus...I do think there is a unifying force or connection, but not nessisarily a Christian God."
Oprah asks, "do you beleive in love?"
"yes"
"then you believe in Jesus"
And with a flick of her meaty wrist, dimisses the woman- her own fucking fan- and goes on about how god is real and blah, blah, blah. Her tone and demeanor was like a mother scolding a child.
At that moment, I decided Oprah was an asshole and I haven't watched her since. Everytime I hear a story about someone who has a chance encounter with Oprah, it just reinforces how much of an asshole she is.
And don't get me started on her bizarre voice influctions. Are we really gonna have an interview with Denzel Washing- TONNNNNN!!!!!! ??
One of my co-workers thinks Oprah is the bestest human ever. Seriously, the book club, the advice, she'll blindly buy and beleive anything Oprah. The only thing I ever say is, "don't drink that bitches Kool-Aide"

I hate Oprah.
First of all, most of her charities, the VIEWERS are the ones who donated the vast majority of the money. Like the "Angel Network or whatever" and then she takes all the credit.
Second, every other fucking show she has to vent about how she was molested and her life was horrible and blah blah. Now, trust me, nobody is saying that's not completely awful. But, really, a lot of people had that happen to them, don't obsess over it for the rest of their lvies....PLUS, look at her life now.... I don't think you get to still bitch about growing up poor and shitty all the time.
Third, I grew up right by her mom's condo. So, no I never met Oprah, but I met her mom plenty. I am sure Oprah bough her mom this condo, which is nice and was in a nice suburb, but seriously? This condo was tiny, maybe 150k. And she had this really old beat up white Mercedes. Like, Oprah can't afford a new car?? Come on now.
I don't hate her, I don't like her. She is a very strong woman who over came lots of horrid things in her life and for the most part tries to help people but I just don't like her.

All of that shit aside, she does a lot of good. And even if it is her viewers that contribute money or are moved to action, isn't that still good ? Just based on all of the stuff she does I find it hard to believe that she is an "asshole. " I mean come on people. Do we have to bash everyone ? Even people who seemingly try to only uplift humanity? This thread was supposed to be about how cool it was that a homeless lady is off the streets, that a widow has financial and community support, that a facility for the mentally disabled is being funded ALL AS A RESULT OF OPRAH'S SHOW. Fuck. Are you guys all really that jaded ? How depressing.

The Oprah/Hermes story: She showed up just after closing time to the Hermes boutique in Paris. The store was closed, so the staff asked her to come back the next day because they were all going home. Oprah launched a massive PR war screaming that Hermes was racist and wouldn't let her shop there because she was black. The company was forced to apologize and it cost them a small fortune in business and PR.
She treats waitresses, flight attendants, and other service personnel in an appalling manner. She's legendary for rudeness and racism (she's especially horrible to white people, and white women in particular). She has no respect for anyone.
And yes, her charity campaigns are largely funded by other people.
I suppose if ratings and money motivate her to pretend to be a nice person once in awhile, that's better than nothing. But she has done nothing to earn the love and adoration she receives from so many ewes around the world.
Well said Yekhefah.
Does anyone have anything nice to say ?Did anyone see the show

She's not the only person to cry "racism" when people don't cater to her the way she wants them to. It works every time. But she's got the money and power to do it, so what can I say.

Oprah doesn't have a relationship with her mother. Her mother had no time for her and passed her off on to other family members to care for her. On weekend visits to her mothers house she would have to babysit her younger siblings and maintain the house while her mother worked. During which time she was raped by her MOTHERS boyfriend (including 3 other male family members) and became pregnant at 14. Her mother tried to enroll her at a girls home but fortunately her father took her back.
Yah so maybe that is why she wasn't in a hurry to put her mother up in a palace.
Did anyone watch the show !!!!!!!!??????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was supposed to be a happy feel good thread and it's been derailed into a bash Oprah thread ! WTF?
HATERS.
Feel the fear and do it anyway.
Seriously, I am surprised at all the venom in this thread. So the fact that she did all these nice things for people or motivated people to help each other means nothing because she had a temper tantrum at Hermes ? Are you people serious ? She is an asshole because she doesn't buy her mom a palace after she was abused and neglected for years ? Even so, THAT WASN'T THE POINT OF THE THREAD. And where did all of you get your "information?" And the Enquirer doesn't count.
God forbid anyone try to be positive or have anything nice to say on this forum. I felt really good watching the show and I was hoping that some of you might be like, "Yeah it's cool that an injured vet has housing! Right on !"
But instead it's been turned into another excuse to rip on people. SO disappointing.

I went to high school with a girl who was on Oprah... between takes and behind the stage, she would scream at and badger the production crew and her assistants. A client of mine grew up in Chicago and her next door neighbor was an electrician. He had to share an elevator with Oprah on his way up to a customers unit and Oprah huffed, "it's appalling that I have to share an elevator with the help!"
What I find infuriating is that the everyday people she routinely belittles are her fans- not to mention her bread and butter. Sure, the woman will help out regular folks, but she'll also go out of her way to show her disdain for the working class as soon as the cameras stop rolling.
There are plenty of people in this world who give and help because they genuinely care about others and manage to treat others respectfully in thier daily lives as well regardless of thier status.
