Default Speaking of lame dance moves....back in the day

When I was a young teenager, I used to perform in talent shows.
I used to do this skit to Paula Abdul's He's a cold harted snake.

Anyhoe...fast forward to the beginning of my stripping career.....
I thought I would do that skit on stage. So, I did. I even wore leggings so that I could run and slide to the end of the stage on my knees and do the little head pop once I came to a stop. ( cringe with embarressment!)
WTF was I thinking! I actually thought that I looked cool.

Well, my dancing style has changed considerably and I am now one of the more sensual performers.

Have any of you done a move or act that makes you cringe when you look back on it?

ahahaha! omg that is too funny.

I remember this one girl a few years ago doing some sort of 80's pop/western dancing while clapping and head bopping, was that u?! lol

Well I actually got complaints from a couple custies saying I should tone it down and slow it down...lol. that was when I first started dancing at 18, I used to pop my ass alot and booty shake the whole time while holding the pole for dear life. I didnt know what else to do but club dance!

Now I am more sensual and do some pole tricks here and there. and floor work.

hahaha If we all looked back to the beginning, I think we would all have our "OMG I can't believe I actually used to do that" moments. I know that I do...except I'm not telling!!! lol

hahaha... when i started, i used to swing my booty shorts off my foot and catch them... until one night they got stuck on the lights and the bouncer had to climb up on the stage to free them.

I did the "superstar" dance move once when I first started. I'm totally embarrassed. I had no idea how to dance and I thought it would be funny....nope....just totally stupid. Luckily, I don't think many people were watching.

    /hangs head in shame.

LOL. That reminds me of my friend and I going to this new club. She used to do this side kick while hanging onto the pole. When she did her shoe went flying into the audience almost hitting a guy in the head. He brought it back up to the stage and gave it to her.

My roommate actually did that to a girl one night. She swung around the pole, and her shoe flew off, sailed about ten feet through the air, and hit this poor girl right between the eyes.

he he he . i used to dance SO quickly! i thought stage was all about how many pole tricks you could do in 15 minutes. it took me a long time to learn how to slow things down (maybe quitting the gear helped......)

anyway, i had no clue about what men wanted to see but i still see young girls making the same mistakes year after year so i know i'm not alone

although, i do recall one particular move that was popular in melbourne '02, it was lying on you back, with your legs spread in the air, slowly rotating them as if on a superwide bicycle. we nick-named it the "dying bug" once we actually watched someone on stage doing it.

Uh, I used to lay on my back and kinda helicopter my legs around in circles, using the momentum to flip myself onto my knees. Not as bad as the weird booty popping shit a lot of newbies do, but not exactly sexy either. More like stripper meets breakdancer. I cut it out after a bunch of girls at work started doing it (one actually ended it with a spin on her side with head propped in hand).

My most embarrasing shit was just being awkward and moving to quickly at first. And of course a couple of wipe-outs on stage and the pole.

I used to dance really fast like I was in a dance club, my friend who danced for 3-4 years longer than me tried to tell me to move slow, but I just didnt get it.

LOL! Did you go to school in San Diego? I remember these girls doing a skit like that at a talent show. They had fake rubber snakes and everything.

When I first started dancing, I would start off my show by doing a walking lap around the outside of the stage like I was on a runway or something. I still cringe to this day whenever I think about it. I don't know how I actually made money after the customers saw me do that.
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.

Don't laugh, but I have my bfa in dance and when I was like 18, 19 I used to do what can only be described as ballet stretches on stage....if anybody dances, I used to do a back attitude, grab my ankle and pull my foot over my head. I know. I know. I know.

I never did anything dumb onstage. Ever. I ALWAYS looked cool.

The first time I ever did any sort of "move" on the pole I wiped out...flat on my back. Only time I ever fell in my illustrious career (knocking on wood). Luckily the place was empty and there was only one guy sitting at the bar, and he got a good laugh out of it. I actually stood up and said "I'm okay!" and everything, like Stacey in Wayne's World...haha

after lying on my back and slowly moving my legs in the air i'd then do a backwards somersault.

I did this when I first started too! Usually I got some sort of "goddamn woman!!!" reaction out of the guys. At least it got their attention The most ballet-type moves I'll do these days are the splits

Speaking of using traditional dance moves I still don't get whats up with girls smacking their heels on the stage to get attention. It reminds me of clogging!

I was drunk one night and dancing TOO fast. I do a lot of pole tricks as it is, and to top it off we have a spinning pole. I grabbed the pole and swung as hard as I could. Needless to say some customer got a shoe in his drink that cause it to spill all over him. I kept looking around the stage for my shoe. DOH!
I'm much more careful about my pole moves with certain shoes, and I rarely drink now too.

No, that was not me. I went to school in the Netherlands.

One night, this stupid girl was running to the stage. She did not get on from the steps, she decided to get on via the front. She got some momentum going to jump on, but she tripped and slid across the stage. (think of a ballplayer sliding into base). She also had a drink in her hand. It was the funniest thing ever. My friend who saw it too laughed about it all night. Her drink was fine BTW.

We had this girl who would get bored onstage if no one was tipping her and she'd do the robot completely nude! She even did the arm hanging move!!!
