Wow, is it ever cool to know I'm not the only one who's thought about this, even if only in passing. And so many interesting little takes on it...and some of our most senior and respected members commented.

Well, I'm definitely not going to post now, cuz that would just be tempting fate a little too much. Someone else is going to take the rap for killing this one for sure.
    I'm not stupid you know.

I'll take it, I've suspected myself as a thread killer forever.
Yeah, it's good to know that at least I wasn't the only paraniod one. Not that it really mattered, cause I'm still here! Heh.

I kill threads all the time. Sometimes even when they are really active.

I try not to let it hurt my feelings, but lately I noticed hardly anyone ever responds to my posts and I got no SW crushes on that thread the other day. I think I may need therapy to recover.

Maybe we could have a support group? Thread killers anonymous!

No crushes on you Jasmine? but, you're beautiful !! So I'm gonna crush on you now...and all the other thread killer girls too. Not so much the boys, just brotherly comrade-in-arms respect for them.
I think the truth of it is that there is almost no-one on this site that I don't feel some level of closeness to.

I suppose the longer you hang around SW, the more threads you are going to kill eh?
I just went over and laid the smack-down on the "stripper boyfriend" thread, just to see if I really do have some evil powers.

I haven't read the crush thread because frankly I don't get into that sorta thing - too much like a popularity contest. I prefer a more equal community.

But I've felt like a "bad thread killer" for YEARS. Ehh, whatever.

Maybe we'll have to make this one The Longest Running Thread in History, just to ensure none of us kills it

You know Bridgette, something just occurred to me. You can never actually be sure a thread is dead. Every now and then you get a random newbie thread bump for something that hasn't been active for a couple of years....and there's some harumphing and whatnot, but then people go about posting in it all over again.
Maybe we are just thread anaesthetizers? Coma inducers?

Whaaa? That's is really surprising! You're like the queen B of SW... literally lol

Aww Jasmine I find your posts to be really insightful . Tis ok though I felt that way a while back... It's like you will respond to a post with a comment, some advise or ask a question and people will ignore you but then someone else will say the exact same thing right after you and they will get a bunch of responses. Blahh It doesn't bother me anymore though my life doesn't revolve around SW I just enjoy for what it is, ya' know. I don't post as much anymore but I try to reply to threads and posts regardless of who is doing the posting.

Oh and as for the sw crush thread I am incomplete agreement with B. Don't even bother sweating it; those threads always turn in to a popularity contest-brown nosing-ego stroking-frenzy.

Well you see, I have read a lot of epic literature, chansons de geste, and the like. The girding of the loins is the first step in preparation for battle. In the case of the Spartans, and other Greek hoplite heavy infantry, a really good idea. They didn't show it in the movie, but this was one of the most typical wounds, the spear thrust up under the flimsy hanging leather strap/skirt thing--generally resulting in an extremely unpleasant death.

    Possibly, but see below.

Naah, that would be The Random Thread.

Maybe we should instead take pride in our thread-killing ways, and vie with each other on the virtual field of battle. Whose prowess shall be the most renowned among us?

Perhaps a real challenge is in order, a severe trial of conversation crushing valor. I hereby issue the challenge:

Who among us is mighty enough to slay The Random Thread?

You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star.

Thanks guys! You are all sweet.

Really though I was just kidding. I agree with B on the Crush thread too. I tried to avoid it. I really, really did. But apparently I'm a weak, weak woman (or just really nosy).

It didn't actually hurt my feelings that nobody listed me. I avoid excessive flirting and feeding the trolls, so I didn't think anybody would I hadn't really thought about it until I started writing my post here.

Well, sometimes to me, it seems that I am a Thread Killer but I think that its more due to my poor sense of timing. I jump into threads after they pretty much run their course.

I think most of your posts are polite, if anything, very agreeable, but agreement does not spawn on-going discussion It's the posts that push back a bit (without necessarily being nasty) that tend to spawn on-going discussion. So I don't know if you are a thread killer necessarily, but as threads cool off, an agreeable post will tend to cause it die out.

Bridgette, you're a Thread Thriller, people just want to reply to you. I can't remember any threads you were the last poster on.

Jasmine, Seraya, and Bridgette...you are all correct. That thread is/was a bit of a popularity contest. That feeling was actually expressed by several people in the thread itself. I had mixed feelings about it myself. I felt inside a little disappointment for anyone who wasn't mentioned but would have liked to have been. But I also enjoyed yet again expressing my unrequited affection and admiration for The Jenn-ster right along with the OP. I just like doing that.

Phil: It was kind (but not surprising as you are a kind man) of you to post in this thread after I mercilessly killed your 50 word saga thread on only the 3rd post.

And killing the Random Thread djoser? Holy crap...that would ruin so many lives. Ok, fuck it, lets try...just for shits and giggles.

We should have a club, because I feel the same what. There are plenty of threads that ended with a BMIWmt14 posting. And since I found this one so late in the day Im sure I might be the last to post here too, Funny thing is I always wanted to post this same thread, but was afraid no one would answer it
Thread Killers Anonymous? We can come up with a 12 step program to stop killing threads.

Well, since we have a lot of Thread Killers posting on this thread, I doubt it will ever die. We'll all keep posting to it to see if we are the one to kill it.

That brings up the opposite type of post. Necroposting. I have always wondered what going through some poster's mind when they come across a thread that has had no activity for a year or two or more and decide, let's resurrect this thread.

It's like the Quest for the Holy Grail.

Many shall strive to prove their worthiness in the attainment of this impossible challenge. Only to crash to the earth in ruin, armor rattling about their ears, clutching at dust and tasting the bitter fruit of defeat.

Yes!! I don't get it.... I will post some advice that seems to be different that the usual same exact responses, then a few replies later somebody either posts the same advice as mine or agrees with me. And then there's a flood of agreements with the person who posted what I did/agreed with ME like they were the first to say it! Makes me wonder if I'm on sitewide ignore sometimes....
