Less money and more bullshit - IMO.

i waitressed before i danced. i would never go back to waitressing.
When I quit my last waitressing job (I did it for most of ten years), I stormed home to my then-husband and yelled, "If I ever need money this badly again I'll be a fucking STRIPPER. It's GOT to be less degrading than this!"
A few years later, I became a stripper and told my ex. First thing he asked was if it was less degrading than waitressing. Oh hell yeah, it is. I'll suck dick at the bus stop before I waitress again.
Okay I had to quit dancing for a couple months ( I moved back to MKE and have a sports car so I can't drive to Chicago and dance in the snow and well not a lot of money out here) and am one step up on the food chain, bartending. I FUCKING hate it. I FUCKING hate it. Again, if this was not clear, I FUCKING hate it. Perhaps I am just spoiled by dancing, but cleaning up people's filthy messes, washing dishes, and getting yelled at for a whopping 500 dollars a week (and let me tell you, thats good for bartending, great for waitressing) is NOT my idea, nor is it most likely your idea, of a good time. MMMMKKKKAAAAYYY???
lol. dont do it tho.
Some of the girls at our club are pulling $1-250.00 a day - not unlike a lot of the dancers. But they're more likely to have less than $50.00 days, imo. And like dancing, they too get money from building up raport with regular customers. They pay $15.00 a day (tip outs to the bar staff) to work, but also get paid servers wages on top of their tips.
The waitresses who make better money are ones who are outgoing, and good hustlers. Some are ex-dancers.

Depending on the club/area, you may do better cocktailing at a regular club or upscale bar. In some cases, SC waitresses make as much or more than many dancers.
I did the SC waitress thing when I needed a break from dancing. 3 days later I was ready to dance again. LOL
I think I'd rather waitress at a nonSC place - I got groped more as a waitress at the SC than I did as a stripper!
Stripping> waitressing. It's much less stressful and the money is better.
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.

uh totally not worth it. I made shit when I worked at a hooters type place and put up w/ so many jerks. dancing is way better all around.
I think waitressing is usually less money than dancing but it can be good depending on where you work. And also, a lot of girls that refuse to dance will still waitress or become shot girls to meet tricks for otc.

I've heard waitressing is the bowels of customer service.

I dont remember exact numbers but I know that in the dive bar club i waitressed in, I made about the same money as dancing and had to put up with a lot less crap.
Personally I think it can be a good break from dancing. Only sucky part is you have to be scheduled.
I waitressed before I stripped in a SC. I also went back to waitressing in a SC after I danced. That lasted about 1 week. It totally sucked. I jumped right back on stage. That's just me though. You might like it. Then again you might hate it a look at stripping with a whole new appreciation.

I was a Hooters girl for one week, maybe two. The most I ever made was 200 bucks one time. A couple times it was dead and I didn't even get a table and got sent home![]()

My thoughts exactly. I was a waitress @ a club and made absolutely nothing....maybe 250 on my best night. Once I could actually psych myself into dancing, I was almost disgusted at how much I had made. -Only because I had been busting my ass waitressing forever making nothing. -That was 2003.
I'll never waitress ever ever ever ever again.

i was a hooters girl and that was totally diff! but dont let em find out you were a stripper.. theyre not nice. i had so much fun working at hooters.. i wa there 8 months. as far as waitressing goes, like in a restaurant, i think that would be your best option. tipout is 3% of your sales - most restaurants its 10% or higher. youre SUPPOSED to sit down and talk to customers, you flirt, play games.. its just so much fun. i really liked workingthere.
but i worked at the #1 store for the 8th year in a row in our region. so maybe that helped.
I waitressed for a while. The money is never the same as stripping (atleast to me it never was). And then you get the constant , "So uh, when are YOU gonna dance? I would buy a ton of dances from you". Guess what? As soon as I started dancing, those dudes were never to be found.
I guess if you want a little mental break its ok, but as soon as you see how little the money is compared to dancing, you'll probably wanna go back to dancing right away.![]()
Fuuuuuccckkk I suppose ill try it out anyways. I didn't stay up for four hours completing that TABC course for nothing .The truth is I really do need a break no matter what really for about a month or two .Stripping was my first job. So I want to try it out but am a bit scared ive always been really clumsy.I do smile and talk alot when speaking with customers so that might help me out since most waitresses look all pissed off and bitchy, at least the ones ive seen.
Wait... Hooters girls tip out? Really? Whoa!
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.
Most waitresses in most chains have to tip out to the bar/bussers. Its pretty much industry wide.
!
I always turned that into a positive. My club gave us half of the $10 ladies drinks (plus I got a tip for getting my own drink), so I just told them I'd get on stage if I got drunk enough. Most weren't smart enough to know that ladies drinks don't usually have alcohol.
To the OP, I always did really well waitressing and didn't have to put up with as much shit as the dancers. But I was also a "mixer," which meant I did private dances, just didn't dance on stage. The advantage there was that if a creep ask for a dance, I just said I was only a waitress, so I got to be much choosier about who I danced for without pissing off the management.
quick TJ/
wow. i have always wondered how the cocktail waitresses do compared to the dancers earning-wise.
