    Default Any info on Japan?

I have been planning to head to Japan to work a bit (as a dancer) but was given some disturbing info from a client tonight and wanted to know if anyone here is able to confirm or deny it:

I was told that to work as a dancer in Japan I would need to be happy to sleep with clients. Basically that if someone powerful enough (so I'm guessing money or other connections) wants me, then I have to do it or I risk forefiting my passport and, at worst case, my life.

I know this sounds quite extreme however I have heard some pretty scary stories about Japan and wanted to get some perspective.

Oh, any other info about dancing in Japan would be helpful too

(Am looking to work in Roppongi)

I personally have heard about 9 horror stories and 1 good story about Japan.

1st, they WILL hold your passport if you let them pay for your ticket til you"earn enough money" to get it back. Fuck that.

2nd, last weeks twenty twenty was about all these girls going to Japan and hostessing, which is like being a stripper but you dont strip, more the GFE, that were dissappearing and getting found DEAD.

3rd, I hate to say this, but you don't speak the language, the laws are different, and nobody is going to have any sympothy if something happens to you or you need help. You're just some filthy whore over there dancing. *you know obviously I take my clothes off for money so I don't feel this way, but you know how people think*

vegas have you ever been or are you getting your info from stupid current affairs programmes? cos its bullshit

i know this for a FACT!

i was approached by 60minutes some years back to do a story...they wanted to PAY me $1500usd to say my manager MADE us whore ourselves out, and that we all do drugs etc. it was the biggest load of shit ever. i refused to do the story...but some other stupid bitch done it for the cash....right after that story aired the industry declined for aussie dancers.terribly.
now the clubs are pretty much run by the russian girls ,and tbh, it PROBABLY has gone to shit.last time i was there there were alot of xtras going on,so i left. but yes, prostitution DOES happen, just like everywhere else in the world, butYOU AARE NOT MADE TO DO IT!!!!

the agencies do NOT take your passport, where this idea came from i will never know, its such bullshit. contact a reputable agency-ask Janet from thebestdancers.com to reccommend one if she no longers books japan.

do a search on japan clubs in this section, theres loads of threads from way back when with info.

As an alternative, you could try working in Guam... There are lots and lots of Japanese tourists and it is on American soil so your citizenship/rights are honored, vs. being a sex worker in a foreign country. Of course it's not the same, but you are close to Japan and it's cheaper airfare to go visit there at that point

(That's assuming you are an American citizen, of course)

I worked in Roppongi backin Fall-Winter 2006. I went theough www.jobsinjapan.com. If you are an American you need to have awork visa. I didn't have one it was kind of scary. The only thing that saved my ass was my military I.D when thecops stopped me at 5am in the morning. If you can get into 7th Heaven you'll do ok. I have the managers email and phone number. PM me if you want it. Good luck sweetie. I can also email my friend that works in Roppongi so I can get you a better idea of the clientele flow. There are alot of extra girls. My ex-roomate was like that. Do you speak any Japanese? That will help alot. .

I'm an Aussie gal and used to speak a little Japanese. I've forgotten most of it, but seem to have a knack with picking up languages so I'm hoping that will help.

Thanks to mermaid for the suggestion of going through Janet - I'll definately look into that. I did look at some of the older threads but keep hearing that it is changing so frequently over there that I wanted to get as much updated info as I could.

I'm petite with a big (natural) bust, very blonde hair (also natural) and pale/fair skin (I just don't tan well) so was hoping that would make me popular in Japan. Guam sounds interesting but since I'm not a US citizen, I guess that might be a little out of the question

As for letting anyone have my passport? Absolutely not, hell I get edgy when they handle it at the airport!

^^ keep in mind that its pretty much dollar for dollar now with aus/yen.

theres loads of decent money making places in aussie without the hassle of going overseas and the possibility of running into trouble heh ask sushidoll about that one

generally the main clubs in roppongi are safe for aussies, but gettign a visa is now a hassle, and many good clubs wont take you without one.

    best of luck

try messaging wwanderer, hes always in japan giving updates on what the scene is like there, and knows the clubs well.

i've heard this from a girl that worked there. an aussie, mind you.

she is pretty young and blonde, and she made bank there. the catch is... when a guy gets a dance (equiv. to about $70 usd each) the dance doesn't end until he cums.

    so there you go.

    wait up.

cos im drunk, and pissed about the rapt japan keeps getting on these boards.... wtf is up with people with HERESAY commenting on actual events? honestly? its annoying me cos i know diffently... im glad you are inputting on what you have heard, sure, it gives me a chance to dispelle the roumers, but its making it tough...there seems to be more BS then substance...if ya'll cant back what your saying with a club and time, tbh, i read that as BS.

when it comes to Japan clubs ive heard it all. i know what the media reports is generally a load of shit-ive heard only the worst, and usually by PAID dancers.....

    facts VS secondary info...

i totally understand if a dancer comes here with first hand info.such as sushidoll or nanaseven.... but there loads of dancers who will say what they have heard, with lil backup.

its the same as me saying "ohhh i heard girls in melbourne make $2k a night over grand prix!" we all know IN GENERAL thats a load of shit, but theres always exceptions.

xara, in all honestly, japan is a super safe nation....BUT, you can EASILY make the SAME dollar amount here as you would in Japan right now, with the dollar so low, with less effort.

Do you know if it's still possible to get an 'entertainment visa' or whatever the hell you're supposed to get if you're Australian?

Does that chick on the Gold Coast ( I forget her name, but she booked me to Hong Kong years ago) book to Japan?

I would personally love to work in Japan. I've visited before and I can speak a little Japanese. I might do more reasearch on it. I'm already going to work in Guam this summer if all works out.

i heard the money isn't that much better. the girls i spoke to were saying it seemed good because they were working six nights a week, but if they worked six nights a week in oz they would have earned the same. they also said that they put on weight because they made a lot of their money through drinking sugary cocktails. BUT this is what i heard a couple of years ago so it may be different now, like what mermaidnz says. i just thought i'd say what i have heard.

Ive worked there twice, back in 98 and 99...i still keep in contact with friends that are there. The money isn't as great BUT I would advise you to maybe go someone else other than roppongi its full of westners like americans and stuff and I find I made much more money in other parts such as a a place called takasaki. Roppongi is high maintanence and so is shinjuku( they say thats the red light district of japan) My friend made alot in shinjuku tho. I mean if you want to go there and dont ind the hustle of roppongi then you should be fine. Personally I LOVED japan and had no problems....also I delt with an agent both times too.

I heard Guam and hong kong are good.
I'm here to make money. NOT make friends, if I make a friend then it's a bonus.

I'd rather be absolutely ridiculous that absolutely boring

Ok so I did post another response a few days ago, but admittedly it was after work so I was pretty buggered which might explain why it isn't here (heh).

I wanted to thank everyone for their input. I have contacted Justin and will most likely go through him as an agent to get into Japan - although that is hostessing only (it seems that it isn't exactly legal to for as a dancer there if you a foreign). I have a couple of names and numbers now (thanks to those who sent them) and would still greatly appreciate any further info from anyone!

I guess what I will do is get to Japan and then have a look around and see if I can get some dancing work, but if not I will stick with hostessing.

I am more than happy to keep updating once I am in Japan in case anyone wants to know how the clubs are swinging there

Actually, there's not that significant a difference right now, and combine that with the MUCH higher cost of living in Japan, and you're not at much of an advantage.

Having friends in Japan helps a lot too! Just for support and maybe having a roommate ;]
I think after I'm more confident with my Japanese I will apply to work down there. I have a few friends that teach english. I also have a friend that does hostess work there too. Its so much drinking thats for sure. Also its hourly pay, but so much pressure to be the #1 selling hostess. :/
