    Default manager died

The guy who hired me, like almost three years ago, passed away.

I was at my boyfriend's place (he's staff...I know, bad, blah) and he got texted the news. It just makes me so sad that such a nice man got so sick...he was sick for a long time. Cancer all over, it turns out, and no one knew. Not even his mom.

I just saw him last week, looking very tired, pale, and thin. Some guys were being assholes, and the DJ went and kicked their asses for trying to hurt poor Dan. Ugh.

Sorry, don't know if I should have posted or not, it's just sad. He was such a great guy. My favourite manager ever, amongst a sea of assholes, as we all know. It just depresses to think of a nice guy like that being so sick and working in a goddamn strip club in his last days. Sad.

So what do you do when this happens? I just don't know the etiquette. I know we're strippers and zero etiquette is expected of us, but should I get a card or something? Everyone, all the staff, are going to be really, really depressed this week. It's been rough lately. I've been at this club off and on since the beginning, and I'm feeling bad for the staff. They are a tight knit bunch, for the most part. And good people, especially considering.

Poor Dan. God bless you, Dan. You were too good to be doing such a thankless job for so long. (Sorry guys, I'm all sad and tired).

I would definitely get a card, maybe flowers. Just because we are strippers in a strip club doesn't mean we have to lose all our decency.

Oh man. I am so sorry. This is really sad. I had a neighbor that was like this, me and my husband grew close to. He died of cancer.

God bless this man's soul that you knew. It is sad. Best wishes love....

Totally get a card or something.

When I worked at VIP Crystal, one of the House moms, didn't show one day. Then we watched the evening news and her hsuband had drowned in Jersey trying to save some kid from drowning. The kid survived, her husband didn't. So so sad. We all got cards and flowers and also did a whip round - talking of money seems crude, but it's why we're all there, and in some way it was an ultimate symbol of respect, giving money. I dunno...

Yeah but we are human, even if it is a brutal business at times, and there are a lot of assholes who survive when the cool people get gunned down, etc. The hardest gig I ever pulled was filling in for my best friend the night after he got killed, and the asst. manager severely wounded. The club should have closed, but they didn't, and I knew he would have wanted it to be me who took his place, he hated the other DJ. We were not a happy group for quite a while there, but it did pull us together.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Of course you should have posted this...

Yeah thanks everyone. It was just sad and a bit of a shock. We knew he was sick, but he didn't tell anyone what he had or how serious it was. I'll go the route of a card I think. I'm not sure who I'd give it to, but I could stick it up in the office.

I think the best thing to do is to read the obituary. If it says in lue of flowers then everyone should go that route. If not then collect from everyone a order flowers.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Get a card or something, and if you're comfortable, pay your respects at whatever memorial service is held.

Since I've been working in the SF clubs, we've lost one really great manager (just last summer) and a really popular DJ (was shot and killed at his home), whose girlfriend was our housemom. This stuff hits really close to home, I mean we work with these people every day, so it's normal to feel sad and want to do something.
