^ I'm saving on gas (petrol) by converting my car to gas (like, real gas) here soon. $3000 and suddenly my petrol is $.30 a litre. Heehee.

Considering I drive upwards of 100,000km per year, it'll make it's money back on me in less than a year!

    Tucson.....

Is not a walking city. Not only is it spread out, but in the summer it is dangerous to your health to be out for very long.
It always amazes me how cities don't have realiable public transportation.....and in the case in the western cities, they just sprawl with no end in site, ie Houston, Phoenix.

I would have though someone would have done some planning.....

Yeah, well Tucson is too concerned with how pretty their city looks rather than having realistic planning for roads. We have a highway OUTSIDE of the city, and bad traffic in town. But people still say no to extending the freeway into town to improve traffic because "it's ugly".

lol......nimby (not in my back yard) at its finest......I admit I'm lukcy that I live 10 minutes from the train, but, it amazes me how when we go by a section of highway there are so many people driving, like 1 person per car...yet then they bitch out gas, traffic, and parking ($250-300/month) in Boston.

Personally, nad, not to get too political, the damn government should take some funds away from the military and put it into the country, ie transportation.

Prices will never go down, I think you will see more poeple who live in tehe suburbs and the sub-suburbs move back into the city, like what it used to be, and how it is in Europe.

It's times like these that I love not driving. I take public trans. Not the busses around here though. They can be upwards of an hour late. Poorly planned out. Back home the public trans was unbeatable. I think its two dollars for in county? Three for out? Awesome sauce.

How I deal with gas prices:

    I don't look.

I swipe my card at the pump, fill 'er up till the pump clicks off, return the nozzle, screw on the gas cap and off I go.

Later when I check my bank account balance I cringe when I notce that I spent $45 at the pump. On a tiny little convertible.

I honestly couldn't tell you what the prices are here. I don't look. Why bother? You gotta pay it. No use getting upset over that which you cannot change.

I'm sorry, I can't afford to not keep track. The swipe and hide would be nice if I could swipe and not worry about overdrafting my account.

Although I do notice the price...hard to miss, I agree completely with this attitude Kaylinn. No point in worrying.

$45... $45 and you're wincing. Pfffftttt... I spend $75 each time I fill up. For a freaking regular ol' car. A mitsubishi CAR... not sporty car, not turbo, not truck, not minivan... just a regular car car (do they have those anymore?).

^That's what I have. a mitshubishi. regular old car.
But yeah..if I was paying $75, I might die. or learn to walk. or something.

Or learn to walk? That sounded funny.

I'm OK so far. I think I've put at the most $40 into my 15 year old Subaru at one trip to the pump. But it's $40. Sorry, I'm a broke bitch, that matters! LOL, I hope I get a job soon.

BG- i'm sorry you're having financial problems right now, but I thought you were dancing, and generally, dancers make enough money not to struggle. I guess you're retired or on break or something- sorry. That said, there are still inexpensive solutions:

I walk when I have the choice. Sadly, since my job is all over the place I absolutely must have a car and drive to and fro. I drive 100,000km (60,000miles) a year about on average. I get 500km out of a tank.

    I spent $15,000 a year on petrol.

WHY DID I DO THE MATH AUUUGHHH!

(I can only claim 8 of it too. Sucky.)

I don't do as much driving as Lysondra...I'm about 25K a year. I lease a little Ford Focus (heated seats YaY), it's about $35 to fill right now. I do 4 days a week, 125km round trip.

That car was given to me for free, and I put the minimal amount of money into it a month. If your scraping by like some of us, how are we able to buy an alternative?
The prob I've found is that those who CAN afford to buy a hybrid or something like it, generally spring for the SUV or other gianto gas guzzler. I think they should be handing the hybrids out like candy and charge all sorts of fees and whatnot on the Escalade, Hummer, etc to subsidize the gas-saving ones. Not that we all can afford even a 10k car, but a lot easier than a 20-30k one!

I put $15 in to the Hyundai of doom yesterday and it didn't even fill it half way. It costs me $10 a trip to Philly, at least. Hyundai. WTH?

Oh ok, so I should buy a 30 year old car instead of my 15 year old car and come up with that $2900 I don't have. OK.

Or spend $10 grand! Even better! on a 6 year old car!

No, I'm retired. Thanks for trying, but not all women on this site dance anymore

My car is 100% deductible and I still cringe at the cost of petrol (gas)!

You guys need to really STFU. Seriously. You have got it damn good!

I fill up 10 litres at a time usually (20 if I'm going to be busy!)... and for 10 litres I'm usually spending around $15 !

So yeah. Lovely thread. Reminding ME how much I spend on petrol ... I'm going to go over to the sex thread now... so much better.. hahha
