Default Another newbie cruising for advice!

    Hey guys!

So anyway, I have yet to audition thanks to a nice long string of illnesses and scheduling conflicts - this'll (hopefully) be my second job since my current one's contracted and I've racked up a whoooole mess of taxes due, yikes. Plus, dancing is one of those things that I've always thought would be fun... I'm a closet exhibitionist and I need a forum to express it! Obviously, being a second job, I probably won't be dancing tons, but I hear that's common anyway.

Anyway, I was wondering whether any of you had any advice as far as my particular aesthetic is concerned - the one catch-all thread was helpful, but I'd still like a few more personal critiques! I think I'll be fine, but I can't help but get nervous. My body's not bad or anything, but it's nothing special - I'm a completely average weight for my height (135lbs, 5'6"), not terribly toned, and don't have a whoooole lot going for me in the T&A department, but I have a great face, great style, and I know I'm really good with people and can probably hustle with the best of them. But yeah, I don't know too many guys out there that'd take a great face over a great body, so I worry about my chances a little! I'm working on toning up a little, but I doubt I can get TOO much done by the time I'd like to start working, so I was wondering if any of you had any advice for me!

Other than that, just wanted to stop in and say hi. I've been lurking around like a voyeur for a little while and you all seem like a great group.

It's seems like you have a good basis to start working now. All you have to do is make sure your body fat is low and go for it!

I got the body (and am working on getting it back!) from the job, not the job from the body.

Alot of my muscle tone comes from being on stage alot and giving dances. The clubs that I used to workran multiple stages and didn't have a ton of girls, so that whipped me into shape pretty quickly.

But, other than that, I'm a lazy, lazy stripper - I prefer to paint or commune with my heating pad in bed...

Being a good hustler is the most important thing, so i wouldn't worry too much. Just work on that as much as you can, and you'll be fine. It sounds like you've got a good body to work with, you don't have to be perfect to be a dancer.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the aesthetic thing - male tastes vary enormously, so there will always be someone coming through the door who will like your body type. As to your personal shape, lots of girls with small boobs and booties do well - some custies, (me included) quite like that.

It's probably more important to be well presented that to have a knockout figure - if you stay close to your ideal weight, chose costumes that suit you and take care over your appearance, you'll go down well. You're trying to be a fantasy figure after all.

Personality probably counts for more than precise shape - a lot of guys like to read more into stripping than just entertainment. They like to think that you like them personally and are getting a degree of personal pleasure out of dancing for them. It's that illusion that sells - not body shape. As you say you're good with people, you'll come across as 'interested' in your customers and probably do well accordingly.

    Good luck..

    Phil.

Thanks a lot, everyone! And Fionaver, I know what you mean about lazy - I'm painfully so. Nothing I love more than having an excuse to sit around and play video games all day!

Anyway, I'm still in the "observation" phase (going to the club to watch and pick up on some dance moves, etc), and also making/gathering together some costumes to wear, but I'll let you all know how it goes! I'm far more excited than nervous right now, but I know that'll change once the time draws near, heh.

Well, a few weeks after I'd planned to, I FINALLY got my first night down tonight. Just worked the day shift so I could get used to place while it wasn't super-busy, and it was great! I definitely have my friend to thank for that, though - she's been working there a while and convinced me to start (and also pointed the way to this forum), and when I got there today she was talking to a guy that ended up buying a dance from each of us AND paying each of us to dance for the other. A little later on I managed to get another dance (with a nice big tip), so all in all I made a fair amount for a slow thursday afternoon. Never got a chance to get on stage, but that'll come eventually.

Just want to thank everyone on these forums for all your helpful advice and experience!
