    Common workout for dancers

I understand that we slowly tone up and down the pounds while working, but what is a general workout routine that can work for everybody out there?

I really love pilates. The long, lean, toned dancer look is my preference, though.

Nothing works for everybody out there. We're all different. I don't like to think about my workout so I tend to just hop on the elliptical for an hour and zone into a magazine or a book. I'd probably get better results with Pilates or some complicated training but I wouldn't stick with it, and an hour reading on the elliptical is better than nothing.

Yeah for me, crunches and squats and stretching is pretty much my workout. There are the usual muscle groups to target, but even that depends on if you're doing pole work, floor work, booty popping, etc. Like Yek said, one size can't fit all because we're all starting at different places and we each have different moves at the club.

Another vote for pilates from me. Also yoga also and bellydance and ofcourse polework are great workouts for exotic dancers looking to stay fit and flexible.

I hust do push ups while I'm waiting for the water to heat up before I take a shower, leg raises and donkey kicks when I get up in th emorning to keep my butt toned. I also walk around campus from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm 2 days a week, and there ar etons of hills and stairs here so my butt gets a reallygood workout.

I don't really think dancing is that great of a workout (well, the dumb way I dance, anyway). When I was a diner waitress though, now THAT was a good workout. Sweating your ass off and running around. Once I wore a pedometer to work, and from 8-2 I clocked in at 8 MILES.
Wow I want one! Where can I get a pedometer?

I can understand that. Right now I'm doing Holly's Workout from the Girls Next Door Workout DVD. And also I tweak it a bit with doing more strenuous variations.
