Okay I am known for over tipping... but I found this funny.

I ordered pizza. My order came to $21.80 or so. Now All I had was a $20 and a $10 so I just gave him $30 and said thank you. He was shocked as hell.

Would you ask for the change back or just give him the full $30?

This place is known for taking an hour or so to get your order to you. I got mine in 35min today so I figured 'why not'.

I probably would've handed him the thirty and asked for a five back.

Overtipping is never a bad thing though!

Yea I was gonna ask for a $5 back but I couldn't be bothered lol. I figure I had a good week last week and didnt have to pay for a hotel or flight back to Winnipeg so I would share some of my good fortune

If I could afford it, I"d have given him the $30 and told him to keep it too. Yes, its a bit much...but I believe in tip karma, and if they went above your expectations(getting it to you 1/2 hour early) it would be worth it.

If they are quick and the pizza is still hot ( you;d be surprised how manyccold pizzas I get from a place that is less than 4 mins away) I would have prob done the same, especially if I had a good week. It always seems to come back.

Are you in Toronto at the moment where it's -8ºC (17.6ºF) and snowy or Winnipeg where it's -13ºC (8.6ºF) and snowy? A delivery guy driving in those conditions and providing faster than normal service definitely deserves a generous tip.

I'd probably give $25 and keep a five in my wallet for an emergency stage tip.

I was at my father's and he ordered a pizza for us and he told me to handle the delivery guy and to tell him to keep the change. Numerically it was the same as Cally's story and the boy was very happy.

I probably would have done the same. Probably. Lol!

If it was a positive experience and I had it to spaer, I would have done the same thing.

If I have spare cash, I tend to overtip, espicially if it was a good experience. I find great pleasure in knowing I just made someone's day better.

I actually tip quite a lot for delivery. Your tip doesn't seem that outrageous, especially if they delivery it quickly and very HOT.

you guys would seriously ask for 5 back? that makes the tip only $3.20. it needs to be at least $5, imo.

    ditto.

i also believe in tip karma (although it doesn't affect my work). but i feel it's just good karma in general, i guess.

it's only a couple of bucks to me. if i can afford it, i figure it'll give the other person a lot more joy for those few bucks than it does me.

I'd give them the whole $30 as well. Last night after work we had a party at our house (20 people). We were all starving, and the only pizza place open late said they were closed, but we told them we'd give the driver $100 for our $40 order. We got our pizza!

I think it's smart to overtip at the places that deliver to you on a consistent basis as well. There's a local pizza place that I like and my bf likes Jimmy John's, and whenever we order from either one, our food is at the house SO FAST! I think the drivers talk to each other and word of our good tipping is passed around. Besides, I wouldn't want someone to get mad and spit in my food the next time. Oh, and it is really nice to make someone's day.

Depends on how I did for the week and how I feel about the person i am tipping and or service. But tipping unexpectedly is fun. Karma in action.

An $8 tip is absolutely small beans to me, but can make a world of difference to those people. So why not?

You might've just made it so he can pay that electric bill he was worrying about.

I'm eating a pizza right now, but if I wasn't, and there was a place to get one, I'd give a great tip to get one. I love pizza, and anyone that facilitates the pizza getting to me! I agree about it being an extra hassle sometimes to ask for change when you just want your food.
