    Fabricating some experience!

*I couldn't decide which section to put this in, feel free to move it if I'm wrong!*

I have a whole lot of experience dancing, as in ballet, jazz etc at dancing school, but zero experience as regards stripping/being on a pole. In your experience, does this tend to be a problem getting hired at a new club?

Its going to be pretty damn obvious that I'm not a pro the minute I get on the stage (!) but I'm wondering if I should maybe say I have a little bit of experience so I don't put managers off or give the impression I'm gonna be walked all over.

How do ya'll think that would go down at your clubs?

    Thanks ladies!

Hmmm I would just be honest. Newbies are pretty easy to spot, especially in the stage department. They will probably know you are lying if you do. Or you can say you haven't danced in years and you're a little rusty.

Everyone has to start somewhere. Unless a girl took poledancing classes or is just naturally good, most of us aren't pros when we first start. I looked like a damn fool when I got on stage the first time but after a while, I got the hang of it. I wouldn't lie to your managers. They are going to be able to tell if you never danced or not and you wouldn't want them branding you a fake or a liar.

From my experience, career strippers are looked down upon more often than the girl who is "just paying her way through college". Be honest... chances are it will work out in your favor.

Be honest...if you already have a background in dance, you will catch on fast. I was honset with my managers when I first started dancing, and they were really nice me because they wanted to make me feel comfortable. Good Luck!

I wouldn't lie. "New girls" can be highly sought after.
I had over a decade of dance classes before I stripped, but I'm sure I looked like a fool my first week on stage because it is so different. I have been in charge of hiring when a girl came in to audition saying she had stripped before and she did so many new girl things (stripping awkwardly out walmart lingerie, street shoes and TIGHTS) that I was sure she was lying and her integrity was definitely questioned.

    Clubs WANT new girls.

^^^ Bingo! VaVa hit it square on the head. Some places will only hire experienced girls, but they are exceedingly rare.

Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.

As others have already said there are clubs who will not hire newbies but they are rare. If you have some dance experience you probs won't suck on stage anyway but even if you do I wouldn't worry about it, we all had to start somewhere. New girls can often be high earners in their first few weeks as theres nothing like the enthusiasm you have when your just new to the job. I wouldn't bother lying hon, I think your gonna be just fine.

I agree with everyone else, most clubs have no problem hiring girls who are new. This is a slight hijack, but when I first started dancing, I was so jealous of girls that had had other dance training before, because I had no idea what I was doing. I don't even dance in clubs. After awhile, I got the hang of it, and so will you, probably quicker than me because of your dance background. Good luck!

Be honest. If anything they're dying for new girls for their amateur night or whatever, or hope you'll be more responsible than some of the other girls, have shifts to fill, whatever. And they'll be thrilled you have SOME dance experience even if it's not stripping.

They will be able to tell you haven't stripped. I have a dance background too but stripping's a whooole different ball game and I was amazed at how much harder it was than it looked.

At least I could do the splits... lol

The pickier clubs I've worked at had rough "points" systems going on. Bascially they want to hire girls who will bring in business and be good for the club. If you were hot, in good shape, you could get hired with zero experience. If you weren't a perfect 10, but had several years experience, they might hire you because they figured you'd be a hustler. If you're a little iffy in the looks department AND no experience, you might not be hired. Or you might be asked to work dayshift (which actually isn't a bad deal...dayshifts are typically slower, but good money.)

And by the way, when I say "iffy in the looks department" I'm not talking about the little stuff we all nitpick on ourselves. I'm talking about significantly overweight and/or fugly.

Dayshift can be good though, when you're first starting out.

At least you can learn the difference (hands on!) between formal dance and stripping and get a bit of experience under your belt.

You can always move to night shift later (if you want to), either at that club or another.
