    Yoga Video Recommendation?

I want to be stronger and more flexible, and I've heard good things about doing yoga before bed at night. This would be in addition to my regular cardio workout; I'm not looking for crazy fat burn from my yoga (although it would be a plus), I just want to be more flexible and centered. Is there a good video I could do at home without having to buy a ton of props? Keep in mind I'm extremely uncoordinated and not flexible AT ALL, so I'd need the Yoga For Dunderheads or something like that.

Anything with Rodney Yee I'd recommend. I personally really like his Relaxation and Breathing for Meditation dvd and his AM/PM Yoga dvd. They are mostly gentle stretching and de-stressing. I never thought I could lower my stress with a dvd but this worked for me. I really like doing them before bed.

These titles specifically don't focus much on strength but I'm sure someone else can suggest another title by him.

As far as props I've never needed anything special. I've substituted a rolled up bath towel as a yoga block type prop and occasionally used a chair.

+1 on the Rodney Yee, though you do need to know the position before doing his videos IME. I have the Method Precision Yoga-good to learn the names, but Yaaaawwwwn otherwise.

I would love to borrow that DVD so I could try it out before I buy it! I'm going to be on your side of town tomorrow. I'll give you a call if you want to go get some coffee and chocolates.

Thanks to all of you! Strength I can take or leave, I just want to be more flexible and my muscles are uncomfortably tight all over. I need to learn to stretch them out looser.

I'm very tight as well, and it is working. Takes some time if you're tensey-mctensey pants like me, but it works! Don't be suprised when you start cracking all over afterwards.

Cracking is a good thing, I always feel so much better afterward!

Rodney Yee, yes yes yes. My friend is a super-amazing yoga teacher, and she recommended his DVDs to me. I went from not being able to touch my toes, to being able to do the splits. Really excellent.

In addition to Rodney Yee, I really liked the Ali McGraw video. It's called "yoga, mind and body" or something like that.

I've tried a couple of vids and thought they were all a little cheesy. I would say buy a book and learn that way. I pay to go to a yoga studio a couple times a week...I loves me some yoga .

i love yoga, and i do programs by a few different people. i actually dont like rodney yee. (dont hit me! ) i have different dvds that i use for different things. i have some that are meant for a more intense workout and can burn fat, and some that are more for flexibility. right now i'm really liking rainbeau mars, and i just ordered her yoga for beauty dawn & dusk dvds. theyre definately more for strength and flexibility.

i dont know exactly what it is. i'm so picky about instructors and workout programs. i was all excited about doing his power yoga workout because everybody raved about him, and i was like.. ok.. that's it? i didn't see anything all that special about him.
