    Default Ahhh rookie DJ!

I worked with a rookie DJ last week...during my midnight feature show, he decided to remove the last song from my Russian set (and I really sort of do need my music to stay in theme when I'm wearing a costume) so that he could insert "Stripper's Anthem" (Wyclef, the one that says "I'm in love with a stripper yo") and call out "Scarlett, this one's for you!" and sing along over the mic!

That did not work for me.

He was sooo smiley and eager and I think expected me to jump into his lap in gratitude for being so witty. *sigh*.

Christ almighty, Karaoke DJs are the worst breed, they do not belong in stripclubs. I have worked with several of them (karaoke is big in Daytona, surprise!), unfortunately. They were invariably cheesy, but thank god not all of them tried singing. I'd walk out instantly if I were a customer.

Singing on the mike in a stripclub should be grounds for instant execution, especially if the dancer is putting on a feature show. You should complain to the manager for sure!

ugh...I wouldn't have been able to dance to that.

Hearing the DJ's voice instantly makes me stop what I'm doing (b/c its the end of the song). When bachelor parties are going on I can't dance worth crap. If a DJ was singing to a song while I was on stage...I'd probably walk off, or just stand there.

    That sucks!

Fuck that. Why does the DJ think he's the star? I had a DJ that used to talk a lot, it didn't bother the other girls but it bothered me so I'd just stand there and look at him blankly from the stage while he rambled on. The next day he asked me what I'd like him to say for me while I was up there and I said "Nothing." He never did again.

LMAO. I always reserved my gangsta-crap music for CFolds because the DJ was all into it and he'd talk me up and I'd end up getting major tips <----and that was a major run on sentence.

But yeah, that's a piss off. The crappy DJ I worked with in Toronto would pull that shit all the time.

That being said, does CFolds still smell like sewage? I haven't worked there since April.

God no, they know better, lol. It was in Courtenay.

I didn't say anything, I was tired and won't be there again for another few months...in the meantime he'll do it to some girl who isn't as nice as me, and will learn not to, lol.

No, it doesn't. I remember when it did, and I specifically didnt notice it at all a few weeks ago. The bathroom is still the coldest place ON EARTH though.

You are way too nice. The guy should be strung up by his thumbs for doing that.

Yeah,no. I have no patience for DJ's who ruin your sets..esp when you hand them the music and all they have to do is push the button. We just made their job super easy and they STILL screw it up?? C-ya.

    arrogance and egomania runnin' wild!

Is it me or do some strippers have
a problem with over-inflated egos? If the cat didn't know he did something wrong, then how can he learn from his mistakes? If what he did was so bad, you should have let him know. I don't think you girls realize how shitty it is being a DJ...especially in a strip club. You got anywhere from 6 to 25 dancers that all want me to bend over backwards to make them happy...plus keeping the managers off my ass and dealing with the shitty customers and even the shitty staff. They all want me to "play their song". When the fuck is somebody gonna play me a fucking song? You think it's so easy, you stand in a booth 4 days a week, 8-12 hours a shift and play a song every 3 minutes.....fucking monotonous, same song, same girl...everybody else is moving around, partying.....drinking, getting fucked up...bitching at the DJ about "how shitty it is tonight" blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.....there I am stuck in the fucking retarded box watching the chaos and trying to put on that plastic smile and keep the party rolling cause god forbid you happen to have a bad day and still have to do your fucking job....like I do. And guess who don't get to take a shit when he wants? Or has to cue up a longer song to run and take a piss? Sometimes all that money I make doesn't make up for the fact that I'm consumed in one of the most negative environments on the planet.

One thing that PISSES me off is when I ask a chick what she wants to dance to and she replies, "Oh, I don't care. Play anything." Then the bitch YELLS at me from the stage how she doesn't like this song and barely even dances on stage, rolling her eyes and shit. Look, I ain't a motherfucking mind reader. Tell me what you want. Communicate. Then I play all this shitty music...pop girly ghetto top 40 flavor of the minute bullshit and these bitches act like they're doing me a favor by giving me MINIMUM tip-out. I've been deejaying for 5 years. Far from a rookie. I've rocked the party. I've killed the room and chased them all away. I've embarrassed the bachelor. I've gotten MANY customer chicks naked as the day they were born. I sing in the microphone. I say whatever the hell I want to. I've almost fought customers. I've cussed out the entire dressing room(on a few occasions). I'm no star. I'm no egomaniac. I'm pretty fucking humble. I can pretty much guarantee that every dancer that posts in this forum would love me(unless you are the meanest, most hateful bitch around). I'm a good DJ. But that doesn't mean I have to put up with coked up, alcoholic whores trying to hold MY money over my head like I'm some kinda little puppy begging for a treat. I love music.....but you girls make me hate it and hate you and that kills me. But on the other hand.....I work 3 days a week now.....make an easy $700 + a week and every once and a while I stumble upon that one chick that knows how to keep her mouth closed.....

    around my cock.

    thank you and good night.

My first feature as a rookie DJ ended up whipping me on stage when I accidentally cut off one of her songs. We were on CD players back then, and I was attempting to switch CDs, but I hit eject on the wrong one. Doing the walk of shame to the stage to receive a leather beating....kinky, but painful.

Tought me to pay damn close attention to my job though. Punishment does have its merits.

Damn Djoser, I have worse luck with wedding DJs. The last one I trained in had the typical monotone voice, and kept announcing the name of the song he was playing. When told how assy he was, he replied "I've got more game than anyone in this place!" All the dancers laughed. Good times.

Ahaha... umm my man is a DJ, hes been one for like 7 years.. also a lot of my good friends are DJs... they all admit a monkey could do their jobs.

They put a cd in the player, program the songs, announce the girl on stage, say her name between songs and watche TV. LoL. Being a DJ in Western Canada(where Scarlett was) is a JOKE. Every dancer has her own music, all set to her costumes. If its a busy night he will need to play with the lights a bit and hype the crowd as needed.

We're professional show girls. We have our set routines. We don't need some lame DJ fucking with our shows.

Crappy DJ=Ginger not being a happy girl. I've worked with amazing DJ's and DJ's that were so bad I knew it was a lost cause to even try to explain what they were doing that was bugging me.

I write all my feature shows out in a very, VERY easy to understand way. I write the track numbers down in the order they need to be played, and when to cut the songs. If somebody can't follow something that easy, then I dunno what to do. Not worth the headache.

Scoff. Right. It's all you. Without DJs I would never make money. Oh. Except that's not true at all. As long as they press "play" and stay out of my way, I'll do fine. Like, do you take responsibility when she has $80 in her pocket? Is that your doing too? Just wondering.

fuck the slags but respect those that do pay their way and dues...and your bills....just a thought.
A DJ is paying my bills? Where is he? I thought I was doing that myself. My working. You know. Selling dances. To customers. Who pay for them. Jeez. Does the entirety of Stripping General have to be occupied by DJs telling us how important they are? The people who will believe you.. already believe you. The girls who have experience that tells them the DJ is not important... are not going to change their minds because a bunch of DJs sit here saying "No we do; I swear we make you tons of money. You just can't tell because you are out there making money without us. But really."

    Seconded, Jenny!

My sets are well known as being like this:

    hand dj CD: "1,2,3,4, please"

    OR : "5,6,7,8 please"

    OR EVEN: "9,10,11,12 please"

I never even trust djs to get my song orders right, lol- believe it or not, they STILL fuck it up, maybe 10% of the time. Sometimes I just program a CD with one set, and say "just push play". Cuz all I want is the music that goes with my costume to get played, in the right order! No special surprises!

Ok, I know I ain't been in this hemisphere long but the first CD I gave to a DJ had a full set, like 'just press play', really difficult stuff, but they still manage to scowl and/or look bewildered when something fucks up, for christssake, i'm not going to give you a dodge CD, it fucks with me too, I don't ever just hand over a disc with track numbers, in fact i'd never give a good (bought) disc over to someone else to screw with. Fuck, I shouldn't post while trashed, off the the drunk thread I go...........................
