Default Credit Report and how to improve your score?

Does anyone have any quick tips on how to improve your credit score besides the obvious of paying your debts off and paying all your monthly bills on time?
I went to freecreditreport.com (be careful and cancel before 7 days goes by after signing up for this or you get charged like 15.00!)
My score was marked as FAIR on there around a 600 something.

Is there any way to get the late payments removed from your report?Do they eventually fall off?

Also does anyone know if certain things do not appear on your credit report?
Or does everything show up on there that you owe or still have not paid?
And how long does it take for your 30 or 60 day late payments marked on your report to drop off it?
Sorry I am pretty clueless about this. Thanks for taking the time to add your input!

Pay your bills. Pay your bills. Pay your bills.

There is no big secret about it.

Active accounts stay on as long as they are active. So if you screwed up on them, you need to close them down or deal with the bill collectors. Then seven years will pass and they will disappear.

Debt is dangerous. That's my attitude. What's it gotten me? 810.

You got to realize these people are all out to screw over their own customers. Watch the frontline stuff pinned to the top.

    Debt is dangerous.

btw - annualcreditreport.com is TOTALLY free, no catch. freecreditreport.com just has a snazzier name.

You can dispute things on your reports and that may help some. Funny I had a higher credit score and could easily get a loan when I owed more in CC debt than I made in a year. Now that I have NO debt my credit is only so/so. But that's because I filed bankrtupcy.

when I was fixing my credit (after my ch7) i called all 3 credit bureaus and disputed EVERYTHING on my report. I had a few things just plain taken off and others were fixed. My score went up 60-80 points within a couple months. I dont remember exactly how much but I remember writing about it here on SW about it.

I did it through freecreditreport. I did online disputes and then when some were denied I called and was really really really nice to the people. They didnt even ask for proof. Just fixed or removed things. I was amazed and thought it would be a lot harder.
