I dont know about Smart Lipo but I got regular Lipo 3 1/2 weeks ago and I am ready to go back to work already. I got it on my thighs, back, waist. The bruising will be gone in 3-4 more days and I dont feel sore anymore.

They both will take out a little or alot. However, SL will have a shorter down time, your laser melted fat will leak out of your incision holes (for real not kidding) for a few days, less bruising, local anesthesia, tighter skin (probably better for older patients with low elasticity), faster healing time, faster results.
I went on 2 lipo consults one for each type of lipo in June 2007. The SL is about twice as much as the RL. My quote for 4 areas was close to 14K and my quote for 5 areas for RL was ~7100K. If I had an extra 7K lying around I might have opted for the SL. But I've seen my docs work through other dancers and liked their results. There are good and bad things about both but the best thing you can do is research both of them and the docs that do them very well.

I have been reading a lot about SmartLipo...and I kept getting conflicting testimonials.
Some women loved the results and were all bruised and battered. Some saw no difference and there was little pain.
What I learned is that there is SmartLipo with suction and without. Your doctor will use the laser to liquify your fat. Some doctors will then suction it out (this is obviously more involved and will require more time, so expect to pay more for it) and others will leave it in to be metabolized by the body.
Basically, the patients with the suction were happier and had more drastic results. But they were also more beat up looking post-surgery. And the skin tightening doesn't last forever. Also, SmartLipo only recently became approved in the US, so you might want to travel abroad to get a doctor with more experience.
So ask your doctor if he does suction....if not, go with regular lipo.

I recently went for a consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who I really liked. She said basically that six months after the surgery I probably wouldn't see much difference between regular lipo or laser lipo. I'm planning to have just the regular lipo.
let me know how it goes. I have been thinking about the same.

makemeheal.com is a great site..check it out. A lot of debates on there regarding smart lipo vs regular lipo.
I agree with Emily; there are a lot of conflicting testimonials. From the smart lipo pics I have seen on the site i posted above, I am not that impressed at all. Regular lipo seems to offer better results.
