Default Dancer Parade + 2fer/gimmicks: Earliest Memory, Pros/Cons

Looking for dancer & customer input here:
Several clubs have long had "gimmicks"- Either merchandise giveaway dances, or 2fers preceded by a dancer parade on stage, with DJ hopefully getting names correct, and parade not too much of a blur.

Which club & how long ago was first encounter of this phenomena, and do you favor/look forward to it, or do you regard it as a distracting "pita"?

Myself, earliest merchandise gimmick memory was Pure Platinum, Ft. Lauderdale, late 80's, where they had T-shirts, and, later on logo tumbler glasses (one of which I still have). For 2fers, Deja Vu club mid 90's. IMO, the cons outweigh the pros. I could care less about another T-shirt, reject DVD (though free pass or Showgirls mag was nice), or other silly merchandise. As for 2 fers, they're often 2 clipped dances, plus empty stage time sucks if I'm just settling in. I do think dancer parades are neat, just to be able to see who's who, provided intros aren't too rushed. Some clubs just have all dancers parade on stage with no intros, its nice when intros are done.
Mainly, I'd just rather have good, consistent laps without gimmicks coming along to interrupt the flow of things .

They're commonly referred to as "cattle calls" around here.

My first home club here back in 1998. They still do them.

    No.

or do you regard it as a distracting "pita"?
Its a distracting pain in the ass.

I really dislike those, both as a dancer, and a customer. The girls never give the same level of quality when they have to dance for half price AND eat the cost of a stupid t-shirt.

Oh....they aren't that popular in Texas, or at least they weren't until a few clubs started in the last 2 years. I can't remember the first club I went to that had it.

I've never understood the point of giveaways. Who wants a sc shirt? My one old club had 2 lineups a night. What a PITA-even if you were in the CR you had to go do it. And then give some guy a FREE dance. They'd start announcing them an hour beforehand too, so no one wanted a dance until then.

First one I ran into was in Ohio-t-shirt, lighter or some other crap plus 2 dances for $20 I think. No one ever wanted it.

It cuts our money and ruins the flow of the night. And brings in the cheapies who sit around waiting for one free low quality ld. *sigh*

I always take advantage of the 2-4-1s, but I tip upfront as if I were tipping for two songs, not one. I haven't noticed a decrease in dance quality.

My local Hustler Club has a $1 table dance special. All the girls come out and give a short table dance to the customers. It's fun.

They also have 2 for 1's and t-shirt specials. The girls seem to disappear during the 2 for 1's. Can't blame them.

Hate em'. The only bright spot is that I get a deal on VIP from one of my favs when I go in on a slow night as it keeps her off the floor and out the the hourly cattle call/T-shirt scam dance. Other than that they are a pain.

Yeah it's even worse when the club wants you to sell crap during the 2 4 1.

Seriously what guy wants a mug or t-shirt with the strip club logo on it to bring home??? I had SO much stupid crap from one club I worked at..including a GIANT stuffed ugly-as-fuck tie dyed dolphin...WTF??? Who wants that crap?? If they wanted that they can get it at the damn dollar store...all they want is booze and girls. Stop pushing shit on them they will just refuse or throw away. And REALLY stop making the girls pay for it!!!

A??? Every guy obviously, why else would the clubs do it... I mean I go home and build a shrine out of all the junk er... I mean stuff I get at SC's.

I still sometimes enjoy these things, not for the stuff, but for the simple fact that it lets me see all the girls at the same time in case any have been hiding from me...

Two for one dances are a slap in the face to the dancers and as a result, a terrible value for customers.

The lame-ass merchandise hocked at clubs is just as bad--like I want to wear your shitty fucking t-shirt out and about because it goes with the rest of my wardrobe?

Strip club management is rarely brilliant.

The only good thing about the cattle call is it makes girls get up. It sucks when you want to ask a guy for a dance, but someone won't leave his table. Or if you want to get up and hustle for dances, but don't want to be rude. The 2-4-2's suck, and I either won't do them or I do them very badly.

My manager caught me hiding under a counter in the locker room so I wouldn't have to do a dollar dance. It was like a horror movie - I was just cowering there watching his damn feet coming closer and closer, while he called my name.

I have said for years that I'd rather the motherfuckers just raise housefee by $5 or $10 rather than force us to buy a fucking t-shirt no one wants and then herd us up like cattle to do a free dance on top of it all. Talk about a stupidass way to kill a perfectly good sale.

I can't remember for sure the first time I had to do a promo thing, but I *think* it was at Rick's in New Orleans circa 1998. I also remember I got so pissed off over the whole thing once that I balled up my shirt and threw the fucking thing, and it somehow knocked over and broke a huge vase of flowers (with water) right next to the entrance to VIP. I did not mean to break anything but I wasn't apologizing either. Fucking insult to my intelligence. Just raise my fucking housefee if you need that extra $10 so badly, ASSHOLE! Save yourself the cost of the useless shirt no one is going to wear. And leave me alone to make my money

    Christie's in Memphis.

Hate the damn things. I would rather be beaten than do them. $1 are even more insulting.

who came up with the stupid idea in the first place and more to the point how high were they when they did it?

I wouldn't want a tee shirt or any other merchandise from any club. But my favorite club has an "All on stage" feature where all the dancers are on stage at once. When that is called, every seat at the stage fills up. The dancers go to as many customers as possible, and every guy is tipping like crazy to keep his favorite dancer in front of him. Everyone seems to be asked for dances after they get off stage.

First giveaway I ever saw was the first club I ever went into.. and also the last time I ever saw a giveaway. It was a buy three dances, get two glass mugs with the club's name on it thing. They made the dancer's call them "jugs" so they could make the obvious joke while pushing them.. oho! ell oh ell.. meh. Wasn't too popular.

My former favorite club has a "cattle call" every couple hours.. they play "Girls Girls Girls" and all the dancers who aren't signed out to the champagne room have to crowd onto the stages.. and then wait as the DJ calls them down one by one. The dancers hated it, especially if they were back in VIP with a repeater. It was weird seeing 25 or 30 girls coming out of the woodwork for the cattle call, considering only 4 or 5 were actually hustling the floor. Then they'd scatter away like roaches when you turn on a light, leaving the same 4 or 5 again. Probably why its my "former" favorite.

Club I'm at now sticks with the $5 shots of Patron special.. or the $5 You Call-its.. I like that much better.
