    Default P90X

This workout is AWESOME!!! My body is sore, but I'm feeling so strong. The down side (if you'd call it that) is that muscle seems to build very quickly. My legs look larger to me, but very muscular and strong. My butt is in great condition and can only get better. I've heard that ordering directly from beachbody is a pain, because they won't stop calling/contacting you. But plenty of people are selling it on ebay. It's amazing, it really is!
    I'm on week one.

Nothing wrong with that. Nothing at all.

I've seen this advertised in my gym, of all places, and it looks pretty interesting.

Even a trainer at my marital arts academy had heard of it and gave it a try to see what he thought. He believes it's one of the BEST at home workouts. I didn't do the workout today though, my dvd player wasn't properly hooked up. So I did 3 hours of intense MMA training instead. I got my ass kicked and LOVED it.

In the infomercial I saw tons of free weights, a pull up bar...How much equipment do you need? I really want to try it, but it looks intimidating too.

You can get away with just a yoga mat and resistance band. The other stuff is more if you want an advanced workout. Trust me, you don't NEED it.

OMg I just searched for this thread because if there wasnt one I was going to post it !! I just got my butt outta bed because I was watching their infomercial for the umpteenth time .

First let me comment on Beach Body , I have bought from them , I bought Turbo Jam . Beach Body screwed me but it was my fault AT FIRST . I wanted this free offer they had and screwed up my order and ended up ordering twice , my bad . What they did wrong was I called the SECOND it happened and it took me forever to get someone to pretend to help and they said let me go down to the shipping and see if we can put a stop on it , I will call you right back , they never did . They also told me "well you can just send it back" Yeah at my expense so because your website was screwy I am out 15 bucks shipping ..........Other than that though they have never bothered me . I love Turbo Jam but honestly the cardio portions are way too hard for me , I have asthma and live in a humid climate so 20+ mins of extreme high energy kicks my butt . However it completely whips you into shape , my butt never had so much muscle and I had a 2 pack within a week .....

I had a question about this p90x thing ....whats the general premise behind it ? You do a different work out every day , repeating for 3 weeks , one week off , for 3 months ?? If so could you just make up your own form ....I am pretty disciplined I feel I could ......anyhoo maybe I am way off base !! Thanxx

Different muscle group worked everyday for 6 days then 1 day of rest or stretching. Repeat for 3 weeks. 1 Week light. Then the rest of the 90 days are more intense. The cardio on this one isn't that bad. I kinda felt like I was cheated.

You can use dumbells if you want. But resistance bands are usually cheaper.
My recommendation is to read the material it came with. There are little tricks in there about how to get a better workout using your band differently.
I use dumbells b/c we already had them.

Kool thanks , so basically you could do this workout with out "this workout " , if that makes sense ! Someone could do power yoga one day , then resistance training the next and so on ??? I am just asking your opinion , I really like the idea but I am so sick of buying things I cant afford and being disappointed

    hmmm..good question.
I guess if you were really strick about doing a minimum of 1 hour everyday on just ONE group of muscles you'd be OK. The nice thing with the program is you're not sitting there thinking of what to do next to get that area working. It just goes and you get it done. If you know enough a lifting I'd say go for it. Basically you need an hour routine of each:
    Legs and Back
    Core Synergistics
    Chest shoulders and triceps
    Chest and Back
    plyometrics
    kenpo
    back and biceps
and then a 20 minute ab only workout and an 1 1/2 yoga workout.
You mix these all up everday, and if you want to do 2 in a day, I'd recommend 1 hour of above listed in the am, then a cardio routine in the PM.
    Hope that helps.

Forgot to add the AB routine is about every 3 days in addition to whatever workout day you're on.

When I stick to a workout regime I do end up doing about an hour a day , my goal is always 1 1/2 hrs and I dont make it !!! I dont really know enough about lifting to get all that in I suppose ......I do like the idea of switching up my work outs everyday though because I get bored easy and my body reacts well to intense work outs ......how much was the P90X system anyways ? I have like 3 resistance bands and some small weights and of course yoga mats .....I want bigger weights though , mine are 3lbs each I thin k My two yr old can lift them , lol

I think it was about $150. The one I have is a friends, and she's letting me borrow it to get through the whole thing. I'm not following it to the T though, because I also train MMA and am going to be out for a month b/c of BA. From everyone's recommendations buy it through ebay or amazon. Beachbody is a pain to deal with from what I've heard.

Oh I'm jealous..I've had mine for over a month, and haven't done it. I get stressed out with the whole food portion/dieting. I'm gonna pop the DVD in tomorrow.

Also, I ordered from beachbody and they eff'ed me over. They said I'd get a free resistance band, but it didnt' come. I even ordered a freaking pull up bar.

I don't use the nutrition plan. I use Precision Nutrition. I love that also. My legs are getting SUPER strong and muscular. More than I'd like though I think.

I'm doing lean at the moment. Doubles I can't do because I already train at night at the academy. And Lean just sounded..well leaner.

Its a 12 day split with an attached diet programme, interchanging god knows how many exercise methods into one giant gimmick fuck fest.

Your paying $600 for a plan with names like Cardio X and ab ripper X aside from the fact that I could probably get it for free off the internet with a bit of searching its a giant pile of stinking poop.

There is nothing new here at all, its provides weight training, cardio and a diet to provide weight loss shock horror it works!

Save yourself the money and go look at some websites, read a few books and most importantly of all be consistent/progressive with your diet/exercise regieme.

But for some who like me NEED that structure its worth the $135 for all the DVDs and the meal plan. If it were $600 I wouldnt do it. I know nothing about working out - if I just google info and try things I can guarantee I'll hurt myself.

So, even tho you dont like it - unless you have something constructive to say keep your remarks to YOURSELF. Thank you.

As per the diet/exercise = weight loss - FUCKING DUH. Its the STRUCTURE that people need and want.

Well, from what I hear it's VERY easy to get for WELL under $150. Not quite sure where you heard $600.
He doesn't claim it's anything new, just an easy way to remember what to do and keep you going for an hour. I don't think it's gimmicky, although I do at times think it's corny. You can read a lot of books, but when it comes down to remembering everything and getting an hour workout outlined and done, you may have spent well worth the money in time just getting it together.
I'm surprised you would try to get people not to "buy" into it. This program has a lot of support (the workout part at least) from many people. MOSTLY because of it's ease, and ability to motivate you to stay on track. I know you read up on some of Berardi's news and he even supports it, and has A LOT of members using and loving the program. Moral of the story..no it's not a new concept, but an easy to use way to get your body in shape. At the VERY LEAST it gets you active and using muscles for a minimum of 1 hour a day in your home. No gym fees, nothing once it's purchased, so in a way it's cheaper than many other ways.

if you don't believe me on the price, just check above link. Just one of many ways to get it.
