It does suck, but hoarding is often a very real disease...a mental disorder. SO I hope the animals AND the person get the help they need.

I don't know about that....
Don't know if some much hoarding but rather greed. Easy money at the expense of helpless animals.
It's a disease. Nobody gets rich having to take care of 700 mouths. Sad though.![]()
What pisses me off (this has been all over the local news) is that today the Humane Society put all of the dogs up for adoption and DROVES of people showed up. So many that there weren't enough for everybody to adopt. And they raised $50,000 for HSSA.
Ok, WHERE THE FUCK were these people before? The Humane Society always has so many animals that after a certain point they need to be put down due to overcrowding. Why all of a sudden the "tv star" dogs get swooped up? People are so materialistic. KVOA interviewed some of the people waiting to adopt and one woman said "We just have to adopt them, they were abused!"
Um, MANY if not MOST animals at that shelter have been abandoned, abused, or both. There's no difference!
Sickeningly, once all 700 tv star abandoned dogs were adopted, people probably mostly went home. Because they couldn't get one of THOSE dogs. Leaving behind hundreds of animals there before this circus. WTF? You wanted an animal, but the others aren't good enough?

I think it's because most of the dogs where small breeds.
They've adopted out all of the dogs under 35 lbs. BUT there are about 100 pregnant females that will be giving birth soon. So in 6 weeks there's going to be another rush of adoptions.

^^Awww....so cute!! I love big dogs. Its awesome to see them turn from tiny little badasses to big powerhouse mushballs!
Also..in many places they are MUCH more careful who they adopt some breeds(like shepherds, rotties and pits)to because they dont want a-holes who will make them aggressive or fight them to get their hands on them.

Ahh that picture just killed me... I miss my Rottweiler he was so good around me but he just wasn't safe with other people and dogs... Having him put down was one of the worst things I ever had to do... Damn now I'm all depressed, I'm gonna have to stop reading threads about dogs...

^^ Aggggh! impulse!

they said the couple meant well, and it just got out of hand. maybe. or maybe they just kept the dogs fed to make them look good in pics.
it makes me think of a couple who tried to feed their baby a vegan diet, and didn't believe in modern medicine. the baby died from malnutrition, and the couple was given life sentences for murder. i think they meant well. i don't think they intentionally killed their baby. maybe it just got out of hand.

Hoarders often think they are doing a good thing..they usually dont even see when the animals are sick. It's sad really...for all involved. Their hearts are in the right place, but the outcome is never good. I've seen hoarders sob crying when the animals are taken away because most really do love them, they just get overwhelmed so quickly and take on more then they can handle. But they cant bear to ever turn any away and either dont know to or cant afford to get them fixed, so the situation gets out of control quickly.

but 700 though? i could feel bad for them at 100 maybe 200 but 700? thats past the point of oops my bad.

yea i watch oprah lol but from what ive seen hoarding happens over a long timespan, to where they see this as normal, and they just get used to living that way. and because dogs breed so quickly it doesn't seem like they would have had the time to acclimate themselves to this lifestyle. leading me to believe they are trifilin' and if nothing else, they kept telling themselves they could sell all the dogs. in which case they should be prosecuted of gross misjudgement, or whatever the legal term is for being a dumbass. sorry to sound harsh but either this is the worst case of hoarding ever, or there is something else up here, and knowing that there are alot of mean ass people in the world, im leaning toward the latter

Wow. I can't imagine what those poor dogs felt being caged so tightly together. It's definitely sad!
