The secondary effects arguement has been invalidated by Daniel Linz and studies such as the 1997 Fulton County Georgia Study which was cited by the 11th Circuit when it strickened a Fulton Ban on Nudity in bars
um, what?In January, Jasper County, Mo., commissioners reacted to plans for a nude juice bar by voting to ban total nudity, require employee background checks and HIV tests and keep clubs 2,000 feet from churches, schools and homes.

TRUE, & this was also invalidated in Fort Wayne, Indiana by Linz... HOWEVER, READ THIS ARTICLE... http://www.avn.com/index.cfm?objectI...0863D625D76E48
I WONDER WTF THESE US SUPREME COURT JUSTICES WERE THINKING?![]()

Have we not heard the chimes at midnight?
Once more, unto the breach, dear friends.
If you prick us do we not bleed? If you tickle us do we not laugh? If you poison us do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?
-- Its always amazed me how no one learns the lines from Shakespeare. I guess it is true that people don't learn history's lessons until something become's their history.

In one of my classes last year I remember reading that during times of economic hardship people tend to focus on and oppress minority groups. Well, strippers, strip club owners, and sex workers are a minority, aren't they? Anyways, this just popped into my head as I was reading the article.

This is the reason ALL young people who lead progressive lifestyles (which is the majority) need to vote in EVERY election. This kind of conservative anti-strip club nonsense is the very reason that these old fashioned conservative family values people get in office.
If and hopefully when the median voting age drops so much that older people who vote are the MINORITY, you'll stop seeing socially conservative issues like this in the news. Politicians want votes, and if progressive people like all of us become the MAJORITY voter, trying to pass laws that are socially conservative won't get them re-elected, will they?
That is why the long term success of the Obama movement is so crucial to all of us.
The HIV testing has me shitting myself.
Just why??? How the hell could a law like that get passed?
Hey, don't be so hard on Missouri!
I grew up in Jasper Country, MO. Well Newton County but that's kind of just semantics. Anyway, a while back, (when i was little, like 5 or 6) Joplin used to have a massage parlor. The happy ending kind of parlor. The whole town had to fight really hard to get rid of it. And you have to remember it's an ultra-conservative area, at the top of the bible belt.
I remember when this chatter started coming up in town, and most of the people there put that massage parlor and this new SC in the same category. They tried to crack down on the laws early because they remembered how hard it was to get rid of the parlor.
I'm not excusing it, and I certainly don't agree with it, but it's a little bit more info on the story.
But, drive ten miles out of town, over to Galena, KS, to the fully nude juice bar. I've never met anyone who has complained for having to drive into KS. We already drive into Oklahoma for our gambling and into Arkansas for our camping anyway, it's a common thing in that area.
I also noticed the owner decided to open an adult store instead. That's kind of dumb, we already have one in town (well, it's literally right past the city limit sign) and three others within a twenty minute drive. Ugh...
I just remembered somthing funny: It's still illegal in Joplin to spit in public.![]()
