    Default Romancing the redneck...

It's not that I haven't worked in rural/very blue collar areas before (Ohio!) but I'm used to NJ/PA cityjerks. I'm in Maine (just for a sec) and I swear I have no idea what to do with these guys. Other than the obvious, how do you hustle a more rural guy? The only guy who didn't have to be dragged out of his seat from Miami. D'oh.

Talk sports. Football and racing work pretty good for me. I find that I also have to be more demanding in a nice way.

And try to get a peek into their wallet to see if they are even worth hustling. These guys aren't going to run a tab and use funny money. They're going to spend whatever cash they have on them. Once you get them back for a dance, it's not hard to get them to keep going. I do sometimes feel bad for taking their dough, but if I don't get it someone else will, so I might as well.

I grew up in rural Missouri (I say Missour-ah!) and now I live in rural Kansas.
One thing I've noticed is you don't have to try as hard to be uber-sexy. Usually they just want a girl who can make them laugh, and will laugh at their jokes. Just an all around good time. If they're having fun, you can score dances without all the, lemme get on your lap stuff.
Just watch out for the one's that don't change out of their work clothes!

Oh, I forgot to add, I pick up accents pretty easily, and they tend to be more comfortable with you if you match their twang a little. Not hardcore, just a little drawl here and there.

I love dancing for rednecks! Just make sure you don't act snooty or rush the dance spiel.

These guys, IME, want a nice girl, that makes them laugh and any sports knowledge especially about their home state is a major plus.

I also, agree these guys are not going whip out the CC but will pay in cash and get multiples.

Hahaha, and how did I know you'd be referring to my beloved Ohio. Anyway, the thing I've noticed with people in my area is they dont' wanna be sold that "fantasy" type hustle. They want you to be straight up and honest. I also don't do alot of ego stroking.

Teehee I am used to rural PA countryjerks!!

I agree with dancin and CK....honesty, a little bit of demand, oh yeah they don't mind if you have a little attitude Meh, you don't have to spend a lot of time wooing them....most of em don't have enough money for more than a few dances (unless you get the head of a construction company or something)

Damn, I wanna go to Maine. I love me some manly men!!

I love redneck boys. If you can drawl, do it. Otherwise, ask them what they do for fun, and go with it. Like if they fish, ask them what they fish for and how much they caught last time, then act very impressed when they tell you, and go on about how much you love fishing but you never catch anything because you can't put a hook through those poor squiggly worms.

Redneck guys like a girl who can get out in the dirt and have fun with them but will never show them up. They like girly-girls who can throw back a few beers with the boys, but still need men to handle the manly things. Fun, but not too independent.

I know everyone is agreeing that these guys aren't going to pull out their CC's but that has not been my experience at all. If you can interest them, then these guys are just as willing to spend what they have as any other from what I've seen.

I do agree about the ones who decide not to clean up before clubbing....ugh

I will completely agree with yek's description of what they want. But I also agree that if I can get them into me, I've definitely had them break the ATM withdrawing all they could after running up a tab. If you think they'll spend only what they have then you'll end up being right because you'll stop trying for the rest of what they'd willingly give.

Any tips for a black girl dancing for rednecks? Do you think it will be a problem?

We've have several black girls in my club and I haven't sensed they've had any problems with our "rednecks." Seems pretty much about the same to me.
Just be your fun-loving self and you should do great!

My best friend is black and she said that she had better luck with one-on-one than with trying to go up to groups of blue collar guys. It was her theory that they wanted dances, but were afraid of what their friends would think, so she didn't get a lot of them coming to the stage, but she always found a way to make money off of them.

(This thread reminds me so much of why I hate rednecks, especially Yek's post. I have a really hard time NOT showing up guys like that, just because they are so very sexist/racist. And yeah, I know there are exceptions, but around here the stereotype is the norm.)

I can TOTALLY believe that. I have a male friend (not a "redneck" I really don't even know what a "redneck" is....., but he's white) he told me that he's never seen a black girl at any of the clubs he's been to out here. I asked him why he thought that was and how he thought I'd do as a black dancer out here. (Just so you know, according to him there are a lot of KKK members out here; but where I live IS the sticks, so it's not surprising.) Anyway, he told me that "A lot of white men like black women, they just don't want anyone else to know that. Some of them will call you darkie or nigger etc. Just ignore it and be polite anyway; saying something insulting back is not worth what happens when you make an ignorant person with a beer bottle angry. You should be fine; and if you're not, I'll come to the club with a bunch of my friends and we'll make it rain on you to get the other guys started. We'll chant your name and everything." (He's a real sweetheart )

Quoted for truth. It's the whole "forbidden fruit is sweetest" thing. If you're black, I wouldn't approach redneck boys in groups, but you can probably bank off them when they're alone.

Blue collar redneck types are my FAVORITE customers! All you have to do is be genuinely nice to them. Simple as that!

Yea, that's when they act an ass. Monkey see, monkey do..

Anyway, I remember once approaching a group and they brushed me off, laughed while I walked away..but one of them would never take his eyes off me. When the group of guys left, I saw my guy excuse himself to the restroom while his boys left the club. He hunted me down and asked me what my schedule was. He soon after became a regular, who spent good money on me.

It also helps me too, to tell them I identify PBR or that beer from Aldi(low-cost grocery) that is literally in a white can w/ black letters as my beverage of choice.
