    Default Spanish for Dancers...

Some of you might not be interested in this, but at my current club, I have about 25% of my customers where there's not a SINGLE English-speaker at the table. I've tried to learn some Spanish (Mexican dialect, primarily) words and phrases, so here goes:

Como se llama? (Pronounced: Como say yama?): What's your name?
Me llamo es Morgan. (Pronounced: May yamo ais Morgan.): My name is Morgan.
Encantado (Aincantado): Pleased to meet you (seldom used)
Mucho gusto (Moocho Goosto): A pleasure (kind of means, "A pleasure to meet you")(Also, Mucho gusto a ti)
Buenas tardes (Bwainas tardais): Good afternoon/good evening
Buenas noches (Bwainas nochais): Good night
Como estas? (Como aistas?): How are you? (formal: Como estas usted?)
Que pasa? (Kay pasa?): What's happening? or What's up?
    Hola! (Ola): Hi! (informal)
    Adios! (Adee-os): Good-bye!
Hala (ha-la): Drugs (usually cocaine, but can refer to any drug)
Hablas espanol? (A-blas aispanyol?): Do you speak Spanish?
Hablo espanol. (A-blow aispanyol): I speak Spanish.
Un pocito (Oon pokeeto): A little, or A little bit
Mi espanol is muy mal (Mee aispanyol ais moo-ee mall): My Spanish is very bad.
Hablas ingles? (A-blas eenglais): Do you speak English?
    Amigo (Ameego): Friend
    Hermano (Ermano): Brother
    Hermana (ermana): Sister
    Tio/Tia (Tee-o/Tee-a): Uncle/Aunt
Me quiero en querar (May kee-ero ain kerar): I want to get naked.
Quieres un baila privado? (Kee-erais oon ba-eela preevado?): Do you want a private dance?
Quiero a dar por ti un baila privado. (Kee-ero a dar pour tee oon ba-eela preevado): I want to give you a private dance. (A bit clumsy; my grammar's screwy on this one, but you'll get the point across.)
Hasta luego (Ah-sta loo-aigo): See you later.
    Cuanto? (Quanto?): How much?
Cuanto dineros? (Quanto deenaros?): How much money?
Es veinte dineros (Ais vay-eentay deenaros): It's twenty dollars.
    Treinta (tray-eenta): Thirty
    Treinta y cinco (Tray-eenta ee sinko): Thirty-five
    Bonita (Bow-neeta): Beautiful
    Linda (Lee-nda): Pretty
    Caliente (Calee-aintay): Hot
    Bien (Bee-ain): Good
    Vamonos (Vah-mo-nos): Let's go
Vamonos a VIP (Vah-mo-nos a VIP): Let's go to VIP

A few notes: "Tu" is "You", also "Ti" in informal use. "Usted" is "You" in formal use.

Yay! I need a thread like this.

I know my lack of Spanish has definitely screwed me over a few times. I've been too scared to venture into a few clubs in LA because I know I'll just be lost.

I still wonder why I took French in hs instead. The only time I've ever used it was in Montana with a few Canadian customers.

'Mi Espanol se chupa'(literally translates into 'My Spanish Sucks"). This can get a big laugh because the verb 'chupar' which means 'to suck' of course has other meanings.

    Be careful.

I'll keep my personal opinion out of this. But I guess it's good if you have a lot of spanish speaking customers.

Do not address customers in the formal way in Spanish! It puts distance between you. Lovers talk in "tu" or "vos" in some countries. Ud. sounds silly from a dancer to a custy!!!
    Como te llamas? not se.
    This is very important!

Thanks for that! I'll usually make the first introduction in formal and then switch to informal. So...

"Buenas tardes. Me llamo es Morgan. Y usted?"

THEN, everything else I say is "tu".

I'm not GREAT on my Spanish, but I know I use it often and thought some of this would be helpful. PLEASE add to this if you think of anything!!!

Most "upper class/educated/" spanish customers know English but I have noticed they do appreciate when I attempt spanish with them. But in general the upper class Spanish business man usually prefers to speak in English.

If they are more working class or just arrived to the states and don't know English at all, which happens often in Miami, I usually just ask for a dance in spanish and use A LOT of body language and eye contact.

hey there! i made some corrections, hope you don't mind

Me llamo Morgan. (Pronounced: May yamo Morgan.): My name is Morgan.
Mi espanol es muy malo (Mee aispanyol ais moo-ee mall-o): My Spanish is very bad.
Me quiero encuerar (May kee-ero ain kerar): I want to get naked.
Quieres un baile privado? (Kee-erais oon ba-eela preevado?): Do you want a private dance?
Quiero darte un baile privado (Kee-ero a dar pour tee oon ba-eela preevado): I want to give you a private dance. (A bit clumsy; my grammar's screwy on this one, but you'll get the point across.)
Cuanto dinero? (Quanto deenaro?): How much money?
Son veinte dolares (Ais vay-eentay dollar-is): It's twenty dollars.

hope this helps, i guess it must be very difficult for you! I still get nervous when a "gringo" comes in the club. i can write in english but my pronunciation isn't very good haha!

    I'd like to add too.

    "Hola guapo" - Pronounced (o-la, gu-wop-oh)
It means "Hello handsome" And smile. Hispanic men love it when you call them that. lol. They're very egotistical and this simple line will stroke thier little egos easily.

I'm very curious-you dance in Mexico? Do English speaking guys come in and say 'Oh I don't speak Spanish' so they can have a free looky-loo? I bet they do!

I have such a better time writing in other languages than speaking them! Me trying to sell to a French speaker=hilarity.

I"m exactly the opposite...I can speak and understand enough Spanish to get by(it might not be exactly right, but I can get my point across) but trying to write it..forget about it!

yes i do, i live in Mexicali, right across the border from California and lots of americans come to my club, mostly guys that are 18-20 years old since they can legally drink in here at 18. Usually they are a little more spenders than mexicans and leave great tips!

oh, these are good ones, thank you Cameron! I hate when they pretend they don't understand me only when I'm saying something they don't like (like "you have to pay me for your dance", or "you can't suck on my tit". ) Come on; I'm not that stupid. I would love to stop their childish "all of a sudden I don't understand NO" bullshit by saying it to them in Spanish. What are they going to do now, pretend not to understand their own language?

(although i do the same thing to guys that ask me for blow jobs. i'm sorry, you want what? oops! all of a sudden I only speak Dutch and French. )

quierote dar un baile privado can be used too as well, but "darte" is more common since "quierote" its a weird verb conjugation, but correct.
