We're off and running on the 2008 maple syrup season. My buddies and I started tapping trees today at our usual spot, and the sap is running. We expect to make our average 300 liters this year. We'll sell some to fund next years equipment purchases, and beer...we'll give some away, we'll give some money to the foodbank, and we'll stock our own pantries well.

But I did spend hours playing Laura Ingalls on my grandmother's old butter churn. Maybe that's why I'm such an old-fashioned luddite to this day.
